Bookmarks Now Available From Cheops Books LLC

Bookmarks are now available from Cheops Books LLC for distribution to whoever requests a copy using the Contact Us feature of the website. They will also be given out for free as samples at the ALA Library Convention in New Orleans in late June where a copy of the soon to be published Armistice Plot will also be displayed.

The bookmark depicts the cover scene for the historical thriller Armistice Plot. Edward and Lawrence are entering Damascus at the end of the Great War. Edward is driving. Lawrence is wearing the Arab head covering. The Turks are suing for peace and are willing to sign the Armistice.

The novel Armistice Plot begins at an archaeological site at Carchemish in 1914 as Edward Ware’s father and Leonard Woolley close down their dig in the face of war. As Edward peers into the tent at midnight he sees a dark-robed intruder brushing past the figurine of an ancient Hittite king that he and T.E.Lawrence excavated at Carchemish this summer in 1914. Is this a spy sent by the Germans to steal the maps Lawrence is sketching for the British military? Edward first encounters the vamp who will haunt the rest of his life prowling among the finds, looking for the military maps that his fellow archaeologist T. E.Lawrence is drawing for the British government. All during the ensuing Great War Edward must fight to keep the maps secret.

Finally during the Battle of Damascus Edward and Lawrence defeat the Turks and make them sue for peace. They will sign the Armistice ending the war. But the vamp, though imprisoned in Damascus, escapes. Edward must chase her down. There are hints that she is fleeing to join with the Austrian corporal, Adolf Hitler, who is beginning a new movement in Munich. Signs of a new war appear on the horizon though the first has just come to an end with an Armistice that isn’t worth the paper it is written on.

This is an historical thriller about Edward’s contest to the death first with the German Kaiser and then with Hitler himself. It will determine the woman he will marry and the woman he will not. It will drive him to the brink of madness in a century gone insane.

Questions For May 18 Debate For Hitler’s Chief Spy:

Two reporters, one pro Trump and one anti Trump, debate Hitler vs. Trump. Mr. Anderson is pro Trump and Mr. Foster is anti Trump. The debate will not take place on Facebook. It will take place on the Cheops Books LLC website at http://www.edwardwarethrillers.org at 2PM on Friday, May 18, one week from today. That is the day when Hitler’s Chief Spy will be published on Amazon Kindle.

The questions for the debate are as follows:

1)How many treaties did Hitler tear up? How many did Trump tear up?
2)Did Trump act like a 1930s dictator when he tore up the Iran Nuclear Deal?
3)What was the worse deal, the Anglo-German Naval Treaty or the Iran Nuclear Deal?
4)Who was the more clever politician, Hitler or Trump?

What Inspired Old Faithful Plot?

Two years ago our Labrador Retriever, barely more than a puppy, was playing inside the walk in closet in the master bedroom. He found an enticing, rolled up big piece of paper that he thought looked like a stick, and you can imagine what happened to it after that.

What the dog did not realize was that the rolled up paper was a souvenir from our visit to Yellowstone National Park. It used to hang in the shed in our former house as a map of the park.
We tried to find a similar map of the park. Yellowstone didn’t sell them anymore. Neither did anybody on eBay.

However, what we we did find offered for sale turned out to be even better than the original map. We located a Motorists Guide Yellowstone National Park 1936. The antique map had an illustration of a bear looking over a precipice dropping to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

Inside was a treasure house of information to the way the park used to be for visitors in a more polite, more elite time when most of the visitors were wealthy tourists who came West on the train. It led Dora Benley to think of an episode of the Edward Ware Thrillers concerning this antique map of Yellowstone. Thus Old Faithful Plot was born.

This story underlines the importance of real life maps in our thrillers about map plots.

Old Faithful Plot is soon to be published by Cheops Books LLC on June 16.

You are invited to the Facebook Party for Salisbury Affair at 2PM on Friday, May 4. We are going to hold a debate between two historians debating the issue of Hitler vs. Putin. The escapade in the novel is created by Hitler trying to sabotage Dora’s and Edward’s wedding at Salisbury Cathedral. The more recent, modern escapade was an attack with chemical weapons on a former spy hiding out in Salisbury. We are going to compare and contrast the incidents, both disturbing the pastoral quality of the town of Salisbury, England. Be there. Win a prize.

Questions For The Debate:
1)Compare Hitler to Putin
2)Was Hitler trying to take over the world? Is Putin trying to destroy the US?
3)Did Hitler use chemical weapons?
4)Was it more dangerous during the 1930’s and 1940’s or right now?
5)Should we treat Putin like Hitler?

Julia: A Romance Gets Two Reviews On Goodreads:

Julia: A Romance by Dora Benley was just published by Cheops Books LLC on April 9. That was the date that the Goodreads Giveaway distributed one hundred free copies of the Kindle edition of the historical romantic thriller. Two reviews have since that date been posted on Goodreads.

Kayla Tornello wrote, “I enjoyed this book’s setting in ancient Rome, although the characters seemed rather on the modern side at times. The main character, Julia, is reluctant to marry Sisenna. This creates drama, but it gets rather tedious at times. Also, the romance part only comes at the very end of the story. Perhaps I would have liked this book better if I had been a younger reader. I received this book as a Goodreads giveaway. Yay!”
Mary on Goodreads also posted her review, “Wonderful romance!”

The novel Julia: A Romance may be on your reading list soon.

Giveaway Widget Added To Old Faithful Plot:

The Goodreads Giveaway widget will soon be active for Old Faithful Plot. You can access it either on Goodreads itself or on the web page for Old Faithful Plot on the Cheops Books website: http://www.edwardwarethrillers.org. Activity will start on May 17.

While they are hiding out from Dora’s husband at the Old Faithful Lodge in 1933, Dora and Edward are also hiding Lawrence maps that Churchill has given them and which Hitler would do anything to get his hands on. Enter Helga and Herr von Wessel, Hitler’s top spies. They warn Colonel Sir Edward Ware and Dora that either they hand over the top secret maps, key to world domination, or they will blow up Yellowstone National Park. They will turn the famous geyser basin into volcanic rubble – and the rest of America, too, which would be buried in volcanic ash just like Pompeii. And if that doesn’t work they have an even darker plot up their sleeves, one that would change history itself.
