Dora and Edward Come To Arizona:

Yes, I assume you wear boots and a raincoat and layers of clothing underneath when you go outside for a hike in the winter time. For instance, when I lived in Charlottesville I always kept a pair of boots in the hall closet. I used them to get to the mailbox when it snowed. What I meant was the weather sounds so very unpleasant, who would want to venture outside in it? It cannot be that much fun to grope around in the rain using poles with spikes at the end. Wouldn’t you want to wait until the weather cleared up before you ventured outside for a hike?

You would like it here in Tucson right now. We are having mostly spring weather in the winter time. You would be able to scale mountains every day in the Saguaro National Park. You could even venture up on Mt. Lemmon which peaks at 9 thousand feet right in the middle of town here. With your binoculars you could see all sorts of birds. There are far more here for some reason than there are on the East Coast or in England. This is a huge birder area. When we put a finch sock outside on our patio it is gone almost instantly. Doves and quail populate the yard. We also have humming birds which are unique to North America. You don’t have them in England. Apaches had myths about the humming birds whispering in your ears. I will send you photos of the birds.

I have been corresponding with an Italian from Rome named Giovanni lately. He recently spent several months in Tucson scaling mountains. There are mountains in Italy, but he thought the ones here were better and more fun. See what I mean?

Dora and Edward take their search to hide the Lawrence maps all the way to Arizona in Armistice Plot to be published later this year. With mountains like this, they did not need to find Mt. Everest. Hitler’s spies would never find them again.

Europe Is Just Too Historic For Most Americans:

I don’t think it is just me. It is most Americans. It is one thing to go to Europe and look at historic attractions on a vacation and quite another to live in such a place surrounded by such stuff. Even places in America that rank as pretty historic have nothing like it. When we went to Valley Forge three years ago as soon as we got back from Europe, we were amazed at the contrast with Waterloo. Despite the 200 year celebration in 2015, nothing was in very good condition. However, in Valley Forge the park service had kept up George Washington’s marble triumphal arches as if they were just built yesterday.

Americans in Europe is a favorite theme of Cheops Books LLC. Dora Benley is an American heiress who gets ensnarled in European politics during World War 1 and World War 2 in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series. If you have not already met her, you can meet her this year in the upcoming historical thrillers Paris Peace Plot and Armistice Plot.

TNT Fireworks Next Door To Cheops Books LLC:

Not only does Cheops Books LLC feel threatened when on the road again by none other than Disney, more close to home right at New Year’s it feels threatened by fireworks. We were just at the grocery store just down the hill called Safeway. Next to the checkout counter there are piles and piles of explosives. They are labeled TNT explosives and fireworks. There are signs that say NO SMOKING, and we have seen people vaping in the store. The management is ambiguous about that. The man in line in front of us at the checkout yesterday was buying fireworks. We were going to ask him if he was really going to use them considering how dangerous they were.

On New Year’s Eve the fireworks frequently land in our backyard. You can see them coming. You feel as if you are under attack by some unknown, dangerous enemy. And this in the very building that Cheops Books LLC calls home.

We hope the fireworks don’t ignite an explosion one of these days. We hope it does not burn our books. This past autumn we published the Dark Series: Dark 1, Dark 2, and Dark 3: Special Edition as well as Dark: A Trilogy. We are planning next year to publish Paris Peace Plot, Armistice Plot, Hitler’s Chief Spy, and Old Faithful Plot among other titles. We can only cross our fingers on New Year’s Eve and hope that they do not go up in smoke first.

Revamp Old Faithful Plot Book Cover:

For the Old Faithful Plot book cover show a blue Cadillac V16 of a 1933 vintage meandering slowly through the morass of the Yellowstone hot pots and geysers. Dora and Edward are driving in the car, Edward at the steering wheel. They are both looking in horror out Dora’s passenger side window down at a bubbling mudpot by the side of the road. The image of Dora will resemble the face of the lady in the cover for Salisbury Plot. Edward’s face will be like that of Lawrence’s companion in the cover for Armistice Plot. Both will be dressed in 1930’s clothing as they gape in disbelief at what awaits them in the plot of this novel.

Old Faithful Plot, an historical thriller by Dora Benley, will soon be published by Cheops Books, LLC.

Armistice Plot Appears On Website:

You will find an entry for Armistice Plot on the Edward Ware Thrillers website at http://www.edwardwarethrillers.org. It will take the place of Map Plot, though the colorful Map Plot sketch of Helga in a flapper suit standing beside a vehicle will be retained as an illustration.

The novel Armistice Plot begins at an archaeological site at Carchemish in 1914 as Edward Ware’s father and Leonard Woolley close down their dig in the face of war. Edward first encounters the vamp who will haunt the rest of his life prowling among the finds, looking for the military maps that his fellow archaeologist T. E.Lawrence is drawing for the British government. All during the ensuing Great War Edward must fight to keep the maps secret. Finally during the Battle of Damascus Edward and Lawrence defeat the Turks and make them sue for peace. They will sign the Armistice ending the war. But the vamp, though imprisoned in Damascus, escapes. Edward must chase her down. There are hints that she is fleeing to join with the Austrian corporal, Adolf Hitler, who is beginning a new movement in Munich. Signs of a new war appear on the horizon though the first has just come to an end.

New Cover For Armistice Plot:

Finally during the Battle of Damascus Edward and Lawrence defeat the Turks and make them sue for peace. They will sign the Armistice ending the war. Thus the title of the novel. Edward imprisons the vamp, thinking he is finally done with her only to find that she is hired by the rising star of Nazism, Hitler, and will haunt him still. The battle of the maps goes on despite the Great War coming to an end.

The new cover for Armistice Plot has just been completed by cover artist Daniel Teran. It shows Lieutenant Edward Ware driving into Damascus with Colonel T. E. Lawrence, Lawrence of Arabia, his commanding officer. They are driving T.E. Lawrence’s famous Silver Ghost Rolls Royce. Look for the historical thriller by Dora Benley to be released next November 11, 2018, one hundred years after the end of the First World War.

New Cover For Armistice Plot:

Cheops Books LLC is working with a cover artist by the name of Daniel Teran to design a new cover for the upcoming historical thriller Armistice Plot. It is to be published next November 11, 2018, the one hundredth anniversary of the end of the First World War, World War 1, or the Great War.

We have settled on a cover design. We are going to have a picture of October 1, 1918, the day when Damascus fell to the British under Colonel T. E. Lawrence and General Allensby. T.E. Lawrence will be depicted driving into the Syrian capital of Damascus in a Silver Ghost Rolls Royce. This is not made up. It is what actually occurred and is evidenced by a surviving photo which we have included as part of this blog post. Sitting beside T. E. Lawrence will be his fellow British officer, Lieutenant Edward Ware, the hero of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series. The background will be of course Syrian. We have settled on an atmospheric photo of Bosra Sham including an arched gateway complete with oriental rugs.
The cover has not yet been drawn so we cannot yet show it to you. But we here at Cheops Books LLC will keep you posted on its progress.
