Paperbacks With Illustrations by Cheops Books LLC:

Dora Benley says, “I always used to like to think that each novel was a world unto itself and should have its own housing or real estate if you will. That’s what it had to be a printed book and even the cover mattered a good deal, even the spine of the book and how it was put together. I do remember going to the Carnegie Library in downtown Pittsburgh when I was in high school and delighting in their collection of rare and antique books with leather binding. I loved even the smell of books in those days.”

In keeping with this frame of mind we also offer many fully illustrated editions such as Julia: A Romance or Salisbury Affair. All covers are drawn by cover artists such as Daniel Teran. Cheops Books LLC  takes care in putting this editions together.

Armistice Plot To Appear At ALA:

Cheops Books LLC will be represented at the ALA Conference in New Orleans in late June by Armistice Plot. The historical thriller by Dora Benley, the eighth in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series, will be found in the IBPA cooperative booth at the library conference. The brand new cover by Daniel Teran will be on display for all visitors in this 100 year commemoration of the end of World War 1.

The novel Armistice Plot begins at an archaeological site at Carchemish in 1914 as Edward Ware’s father and Leonard Woolley close down their dig in the face of war. As Edward peers into the tent at midnight he sees a dark-robed intruder brushing past the figurine of an ancient Hittite king that he and T.E.Lawrence excavated at Carchemish this summer in 1914. Is this a spy sent by the Germans to steal the maps Lawrence is sketching for the British military?

Edward first encounters the vamp who will haunt the rest of his life prowling among the finds, looking for the military maps that his fellow archaeologist T. E.Lawrence is drawing for the British government. All during the ensuing Great War Edward must fight to keep the maps secret.

Finally during the Battle of Damascus Edward and Lawrence defeat the Turks and make them sue for peace. They will sign the Armistice ending the war. But the vamp, though imprisoned in Damascus, escapes. Edward must chase her down. There are hints that she is fleeing to join with the Austrian corporal, Adolf Hitler, who is beginning a new movement in Munich. Signs of a new war appear on the horizon though the first has just come to an end with an Armistice that isn’t worth the paper it is written on.

This is an historical thriller about Edward’s contest to the death first with the German Kaiser and then with Hitler himself. It will determine the woman he will marry and the woman he will not. It will drive him to the brink of madness in a century gone insane.

Carthage Must Be Destroyed Book Cover:

Carthage Must Be Destroyed is the latest in a series of historical thriller novels by Dora Benley about the long ago ancestors of Colonel Sir Edward Ware, or General Lord Edward Ware, of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series about World War 1 and World War 2. Colonel Ware lives outside Salisbury, England, of recent notoriety with the Russian chemical attacks. He lives at his estate called Ware Hall which has been inhabited by his family since Roman times when his ancestor Lucius Antonius fled to Britain after Julius Caesar was assassinated.

Cato the Elder ended every speech in the Roman Senate with the words, “Carthage must be destroyed.” He was a survivor of the Second Punic War fifty years before. Hannibal won the Battle of Cannae and almost marched on Rome itself. He reminded the Romans that Carthage had finished paying its reparations and was now refurbishing its navy. It could sail against them again just as Hannibal himself had crossed the Alps a generation before.

The son of another senator, Gaius Antonius, is picked by Cato to follow him to Carthage to assess the situation. Gaius Antonius sketches the harbor. His eyes light on a ship that is being built. It looks like the finest of its fleet.

When Cato orders the Carthaginians to send one hundred hostages picked from the youth of the noble families of Carthage to Rome to be kept at his latifundia estate, the Princess Tanit arrives. She tries to charm everyone —- for awhile. But soon she and the sketches and maps that Gaius Antonius drew suddenly disappear along with all the hostages.

This sets off a multi-nation chase to get the drawings and maps back again. Cato wants to show the drawing of the fine naval vessel and the threats it represents to the Roman Senate. They are on the verge of declaring war, and Cato and Gaius Antonius want to push them over the edge. Will they make it in time, or will the Carthaginians gain an advantage? Will Princess Tanit and her cohorts escape, or will they get their just deserts?

Find out. Read Carthage Must Be Destroyed coming soon from Cheops Books LLC. This is a sketch of the cover drawn by artist Daniel Teran.

Hitler’s Chief Spy To Be Published May 18:

On May 18 Cheops Books LLC will publish Hitler’s Chief Spy on Amazon Kindle. There will be a Facebook Party to which the public is invited. The debate at the Facebook Party will contrast the larger than life spy of Hitler’s Chief Spy who is pictured on the cover by cover artist Daniel Teran, Helga von Wessel, with the much dirtier spy game taking place between England and Russia right now. There will also be a Goodreads giveaway of the Kindle version of the book. You could win one of one  hundred prizes. Right now the historical thriller is available on Amazon for pre-order for only $5.99. Pre-order now and you will receive your copy on the day of publication, May 18.

The villainess, Helga von Wessel, Hitler’s chief spy, struts boldly from page to page of this thriller called Hitler’s Chief Spy with Europe at her back and all sorts of ambitious notions in her head during the lead up to WW2. As far as she is concerned it isn’t Hitler’s Reich. It is Helga’s Reich. She will wrap the hero, Colonel Sir Edward Ware, Churchill’s spy, around her little finger to prove it. Nor does it matter what Edward’s American wife, Dora, says. Hitler’s Chief Spy is the fifth volume of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series.

Brand New Book Cover For Julia: A Romance:

Just in from the cover artist we have the new cover for the historical romantic thriller, Julia: A Romance, now up for grabs on Goodreads Giveaway and to be published on Monday, April 9. There is also a Facebook Party that is being set up for the same date, April 9. But for now it is worth contemplating the masterpiece by artist Daniel Teran. He has created a lavish Roman interior complete with marble statues, vases and urns, and even a snake goddess from Minoan Crete. We can only imagine nowadays what it would be like to live in such a place with art at every turn.

Daniel Teran has also drawn his rendition of Julia Rufus, the heroine of the suspense novel Julia: A Romance. She is wearing an elaborate red Roman gown and sandals. She looks quite startled upon laying eyes on the snake goddess from Crete, and being readers we want to know why. That provides the hook that draws us into the book.

If you like Julia: A Romance you will enjoy other Roman novels by Dora Benley such as Julius Caesar: A Novel, Livia: A Novel, Caesar and Cleopatra: A Novel, Caesar’s Lost Legions, and Pliny: A Novel.

Publication Dates For Novels In 2018:

Cheops Books LLC has come up with a rough outline of when various historical thrillers and historical romantic thrillers by Dora Benley will be released this year, 2018. First of all, on April 9 we expect to publish Julia: A Romance. Right now you can enter the Goodreads Giveaway for that romantic thriller about ancient Rome.

On May 4 we plan to publish the second volume in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series, Salisbury Plot, on Amazon Kindle. It has a brand new cover that will send chills up your spine. At the same time we will release the audiobook edition of the work on Audible.

On Saturday, June 16 we plan to release Old Faithful Plot in which Hitler plans to blow up Yellowstone National Park. The cover art by Daniel Teran is a real winner.

On October 1, the days that Lawrence of Arabia and General Allensby won the Battle of Damascus against the Ottoman Turks and brought about the Armistice to end the war will be the publication date of Armistice Plot which brings to an end everything about the First World War except Adolf Hitler.

Then on Armistice Day, November 11, the one hundredth anniversary of the end of World War 1, Cheops Books will publish Paris Peace Plot about the upcoming summit in Paris to sign the treaty to end the war. It was a treaty that was so poor, so malicious in intent, that the treaty itself became one of the major causes of World War 2. It was often cited by Adolf Hitler as such. And that leads right into other novels to come in the Edward Ware Thriller Series about World War 2.

New Book Cover For Old Faithful Plot:

Here we have the new book cover for Old Faithful Plot by Dora Benley published by Cheops Books LLC. It is being unveiled on our website for the very first time. We hope you appreciate the drama and tension in the painting by cover artist Daniel Teran. Dora and Edward find themselves in an odd and unexpected position of driving across a landscape of exploding hot pots in Yellowstone National Park. It is a far cry from the roads that Edward is accustomed to driving in the south of England. Not only Hitler and his spies and henchmen, but the entire landscape seems to have turned against the couple working for Winston Churchill in an attempt to hide the Lawrence maps, key to world domination.

While they are hiding out from Dora’s husband at the Old Faithful Lodge in 1933, Dora and Edward are also hiding Lawrence maps that Churchill has given them and which Hitler would do anything to get his hands on. Enter Helga and Herr von Wessel, Hitler’s top spies. They warn Colonel Sir Edward Ware and Dora that either they hand over the top secret maps, key to world domination, or they will blow up Yellowstone National Park. They will turn the famous geyser basin into volcanic rubble – and the rest of America, too, which would be buried in volcanic ash just like Pompeii. And if that doesn’t work they have an even darker plot up their sleeves, one that would change history itself.

Old Faithful Plot will be published later this year. Look for further details in this blog on this website.

New Cover For Armistice Plot:

The novel Armistice Plot begins at an archaeological site at Carchemish in 1914 as Edward Ware’s father and Leonard Woolley close down their dig in the face of war. Edward first encounters the vamp who will haunt the rest of his life prowling among the finds, looking for the military maps that his fellow archaeologist T. Finally during the Battle of Damascus Edward and Lawrence defeat the Turks and make them sue for peace. They will sign the Armistice ending the war. Thus the title of the novel. Edward imprisons the vamp, thinking he is finally done with her only to find that she is hired by the rising star of Nazism, Hitler, and will haunt him still. The battle of the maps goes on despite the Great War coming to an end.

The new cover for Armistice Plot has just been completed by cover artist Daniel Teran. It shows Lieutenant Edward Ware driving into Damascus with Colonel T. E. Lawrence, Lawrence of Arabia, his commanding officer. They are driving T.E. Lawrence’s famous Silver Ghost Rolls Royce. Look for the historical thriller by Dora Benley to be released next November 11, 2018, one hundred years after the end of the First World War.

New Cover For Armistice Plot:

Cheops Books LLC is working with a cover artist by the name of Daniel Teran to design a new cover for the upcoming historical thriller Armistice Plot. It is to be published next November 11, 2018, the one hundredth anniversary of the end of the First World War, World War 1, or the Great War.

We have settled on a cover design. We are going to have a picture of October 1, 1918, the day when Damascus fell to the British under Colonel T. E. Lawrence and General Allensby. T.E. Lawrence will be depicted driving into the Syrian capital of Damascus in a Silver Ghost Rolls Royce. This is not made up. It is what actually occurred and is evidenced by a surviving photo which we have included as part of this blog post. Sitting beside T. E. Lawrence will be his fellow British officer, Lieutenant Edward Ware, the hero of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series. The background will be of course Syrian. We have settled on an atmospheric photo of Bosra Sham including an arched gateway complete with oriental rugs.
The cover has not yet been drawn so we cannot yet show it to you. But we here at Cheops Books LLC will keep you posted on its progress.
