Gefangen auf dem Berghof: Teil 1 in German:

Today Amazon published Captive at the Berghof in German on Amazon Kindle. That completes the first foreign language publication of Cheops Books LLC.

Adolf Hitler threatens Colonel Sir Edward Ware and Dora, Lady Ware, that if they do not hand over the Lawrence maps, key to world domination, he will kidnap their daughter. The late Lawrence of Arabia has drawn these maps for the British military to prepare for the next European War. Hitler guesses this, and wants to tip the scales in favor of Germany instead of England. Churchill, Edward’s best friend, and the Colonel are running their own foreign policy under the noses of first Baldwin and then Neville Chamberlain and the British government. Tension does nothing but build through Nazi rallies, through the Munich Accords in 1938, but does not stop with the first shots fired after the Polish Invasion in 1939. Finally the war itself will be won or lost depending upon what Edward and Dora do next. Will it be their country or their daughter? They must choose.

A reader left this review:
If you like novels during the period of Adolf Hitler, this one is for you.

The book starts out with a tensely constructed dinner scene with Adolf Hitler. The main characters Colonel Sir Edward Ware and Dora, Lady Ware are scared that the Führer might kidnap their daughter, if they don’t hand over the Lawrence maps. The late Lawrence of Arabia had drawn up these maps for the British military to prepare for the next European War. Hitler wants them.
The suspense grows from there. Hitler even toys with the Ware’s by holding onto their baby. Great scene.

Through out the story there are large historical figures who have frequent cameos such as Churchill, Chamberlain and Goering. The story is easy to read and has a dark period tone and well written characters.

As it is part of a series, the author was smart to have an ending that leaves you wanting more.

Captive At The Berghof At Frankfurt Book Fair:

Today is the beginning of the Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany. It will go through Sunday, October 15. All during that time Cheops Books LLC will be displaying Captive at the Berghof: Part 1 in German translation, the third book of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series. It is the first book that Cheops Books LLC has ever translated into a foreign language. But we thought it was particularly appropriate because the historical thriller is about Hitler and the Third Reich. The novel will be on display at the IBPA booth  at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Hitler has found out about Colonel Sir Edward Ware’s secret undercover activities for Winston Churchill, and he’s playing hardball. He kidnaps Thomasina, Edward’s daughter, and won’t give the child back unless Edward and his wife, Dora, hand over the key to world domination – the Lawrence maps. They’d better do something fast before Thomasina truly becomes Hitler’s daughter.

Promotions for The Old Faithful Plot:

One thing to consider about The Old Faithful Plot: I think that if the news media wasn’t so obsessed with the North Korean leader he would do a lot less harm. No wonder he does and says such wild things. That is the way to attract attention. But I am tempted to take advantage of the situation as a way to promote one of my books. I have a thriller based on a totally fictional premise that Hitler is threatening Edward and Dora that if they do not hand over the Lawrence maps, key to world domination, he will blow up Yellowstone National Park. He has sent the von Wessels to detonate Old Faithful geyser and blow it sky high hoping to awaken the super volcano that can dump ash across America. I was thinking of relating the two and having a Facebook Party about this end of the world stuff.

I have actually already written and edited the novel The Old Faithful Plot last year and this year. I am about ready to publish it. The Old Faithful Plot named after the Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone National Park of course. The geyser becomes a kind of volcano. A time tunnel is discovered behind it a la Journey to the Center of the Earth style. Helga and Herr von Wessel go back to ancient Rome to assassinate the writer who first badmouthed the Germans, Pliny the Elder. Hitler wants to correct the reputation of Germans throughout history and get unified sooner so that the Germans can win, not lose, WW1. He wants to change history itself. But you see the time tunnel sequence is in a nightmare that Dora has. It is a nightmare sequence and so not real. The main text is about the plot to blow up the park and ignite the supervolcano that will bury America in ash.

British Museum Preserves American History:

Supposedly the stupid Mayor of New York City, the same one who went to Hamburg when they were having the political riots in July, has declared that New York City might well remove its statue of Christopher Columbus. That statue has been standing since 1892 in its present location. It was erected to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus sailing the ocean blue in 1492. What did Christopher Columbus do to offend the mayor? Supposedly that he was the harbinger of oppression for the native peoples of the New World. Of course that is like saying that America should never have been discovered which is really weird.

Pretty soon the British Museum will be the only place that has American artifacts and keeps them there. Earlier this year they had an exhibit of Americana and displayed some of their collection. Just as they preserve the Elgin Marbles they will have to preserve America’s history for America.

Cheops Books, LLC frequently publishes historical novels such as Inn at the Crossroads, Cherusci Plot, and Vesuvius Plot. Map Plot involves a key scene at the British Museum where Edward, Dora, T.E. Lawrence, and Leonard Woolley hide the Lawrence maps in the Rosetta Stone.

New Cover For Wall Street Swastika:

Dora and Edward are trysting at the Waldorf Astoria while Edward is on leave from British Mid East Headquarters in October of 1929. Suddenly on October 29 on Black Tuesday they notice a commotion on the streets. All the action is on Wall Street. They find their friend and compatriot Winston Churchill sadly watching as people leap out window and his own American investments plummet.

Even worse from their own point of view Winston shows them a note. German spies are demanding the Lawrence maps, key to world domination, which Edward is hiding up his sleeve. On their way back to Britain Hitler doesn’t waste any time. He sends all sorts of signs and warnings of impending disaster including a skiff at sea that crashes into their ocean liner.

The Prince of Wales is aboard. So are the von Wessels, Hitler’s spies. His Highness is sympathetic to the Nazis and Hitler wants to hit him to help finance his rise to power in the face of the great world wide depression brought on by the failure of capitalism. It is up to Edward, Dora, and Winston to stop him as the clock ticks on. If they don’t separate the Prince of Wales from Hitler before they reach Europe, nothing will stop his rise to ultimate power.

New Cover For Murder at Hamlet’s Castle:

What do you think of the brand new cover for Murder at Hamlet’s Castle? You can find it on the book page on the website

http://www.edwardwarethrillers.org. After narrowly escaping the von Wessels, Hitler’s chief spies, in Santa Fe while on leave from Mid East Quarters in Cairo, Edward and Dora don’t know where to go next and where to hide the Lawrence maps, key to world domination. They have just been watching a production of Hamlet when they get a note from Winston Churchill. He says that he and Clemmie got locked in the dungeon of Hamlet’s Castle in Helsingor, Denmark. It was where the Danish army used to be billeted in the Middle Ages. They had to raise Hamlet’s ghost screaming to be let out. It just occurred to Winston it would be a perfect location to hide the much sought after military maps. No one would ever suspect they were there — and if they did they would never be able to escape with their lives let alone the prize that Hitler has been seeking for years.

But after a huge chase scene to get away from states they meet unexpected obstacles in the castle in 1934. The mistress who keeps the place up turns out to be the perfect Nazi spy in cahoots with Hitler and the von Wessels. Once again they need to escape. But this time they meet an unexpected ally in the famous Dane himself, Shakespeare’s most famous character. They uncover Hamlet’s secret notebooks that tell them just what they need to know. Others were cornered in this castle long ago. Hamlet tells them how he escaped in a tale that upsets all previous notions of the man, his character, and his fate.
Murder at Hamlet’s Castle by Dora Benley will be published soon by Cheops Books LLC.

New Book Trailer for Old Faithful Plot:

Old Faithful Plot, an Edward Ware Thrillers at War novel, has a new book trailer on the Cheops Books LLC website: http://www.edwardwarethrillers.org. Go to the home page, click on Old Faithful Plot, and the book trailer will be staring you in the face with Helga von Wessel, the villainess, simpering at you. Click on the video and enjoy the preview of coming attractions once the novel is published.
The book trailer evokes the feeling of fear and catastrophe that was so emblematic of that year, 1933, when Hitler came to power, FDR made his inaugural speech about the only thing we have to fear is fear itself, and the movie King Kong was raging through the movie theaters. Here a world catastrophe is evoked which we have tried to capture in the music and photos featured in the trailer.
While they are hiding out from Dora’s husband at the Old Faithful Lodge in 1933, Dora and Edward are also hiding Lawrence maps that Churchill has given them and which Hitler would do anything to get his hands on. Enter Helga and Herr von Wessel, Hitler’s top spies. They warn Colonel Sir Edward Ware and Dora that either they hand over the top secret maps, key to world domination, or they will blow up Yellowstone National Park. They will turn the famous geyser basin into volcanic rubble – and the rest of America, too, which would be buried in volcanic ash just like Pompeii. And if that doesn’t work they have an even darker plot up their sleeves, one that would change history itself.

Rommel: The General’s Namesake:
Here we have Rommel the black Labrador Retriever, pure bred and descended of a noble stock. He is pictured crooning to his favorite songs in the backseat of our minivan here at Cheops Books LLC. He was named after the famous World War 2 German general of the same name. Erwin Rommel figures in several of our historical thriller novels such as Captive at the Berghof parts 1 and 2 and in Hitler’s Agent and Helga’s Reich. He is the great antagonist of General Lord Edward Ware in North Africa in 1942, particularly at the Battle of El Alamein. General Rommel wants the Lawrence maps, key to world domination, to learn how to avoid the soft sands in the Sahara Desert in order to take Cairo and Alexandria and push the British out of Mid-East Headquarters and out of Africa itself. We here at Cheops Books LLC thought Rommel was a fitting name for a pugnacious dog who loves to dart about. When running he moves with the speed of a charging tank. Very appropriate indeed.

The British Museum In Edward Ware Thrillers:
The British Museum figures in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series on more than one occasion. It appears as a mysterious place, full of atmosphere and intrigue, and not as a very prim and proper and boring British institution where school kids visit on field trips. The series begins in 1914 when archaeologist Leonard Woolley is conducting a Hittite dig at Carchemish in Turkey. His assistant is a young man by the name of T.E. Lawrence. Edward Ware’s father, Sir Adolphus Ware, is an amateur archaeologist/car magnate and is helping to fund the dig. Edward first becomes enmeshed by the wiles of the spy who was later to become Helga von Wessel during this dig in 1914. She is searching for the Lawrence maps for the Kaiser.
Leonard Woolley helps Edward hide the Lawrence maps in the British Museum near the Rosetta Stone in the historical thriller Map Plot. Later still Dora and Edward return to the famed museum in the thriller Wall Street Swastika. The silent mummies and Greek statues watch them as they slink through the museum at night undetected by human eyes. It is all what helps to make the British Museum part of the Edward Ware Thriller Series.
