Egypt Was Better Off In The British Empire:

Egypt may be a fully functioning state, but it does not function as well as it did in the days of the British Empire. Agatha Christie could write Death on the Nile because there were actually lots of Brits living in Egypt in those days and lots of tourists, too, as I advertise in Salisbury Plot where Dora and Edward visit the Sphinx and Helga takes advantage of the opportunity to chase Dora up the monument where she hides behind the Sphinx’s head. Helga then plants a cobra to attack her. Leopold saves all, only to get shot and tumble down the side of the Sphinx. And there was all that great stuff about British Mid East Headquarters, too, where Edward worked in several of the novels. Remember how he was defending it in the Battle of El Alamein? Those were far more interesting days in Egyptian history than now. Now you can’t even get there to visit the pyramids at all. Somehow the terrorists have managed to curtail a 2000 year old plus tourist industry. Remember how Julius Caesar visited Egypt during the Alexandrian Campaign? Now he would not be able to go ashore.

Cheops Books Goes To The ALA And Frankfurt:

This summer has been an unprecedented season of marketing here at Cheops Books LLC. We have had our books all over the place. Last month Hitler’s Agent, soon to be published on October 15, went to the American Library Association Convention in Chicago. It was displayed at the IBPA Cooperative Booth. Just this past week in July Cheops Books LLC sent an eblast to K-12 librarians to announce the publication of Dark 3: Special Edition to be published on September 15. Next month Cheops Books is to be part of a cooperative catalog to be sent out to independent bookstores advertising Dark 3: Special Edition.

In October we will be sending booth Hitler’s Agent and Dark 3: Special Edition to the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany. The titles to be published this autumn will be at the IBPA booth.

In addition we have just had an audio book recorded for Salisbury Plot. We used an exciting new voice never to be repeated again but special only for this one Edward Ware Thrillers at War novel. This edition will soon appear on audible.

For Dark 3: Special Edition we have been working with an artist in Ukraine named Andrew. He has illustrated the book for us with his black and white sketches and drawings of the characters.

Work also continues on the German translation of Captive at the Berghof: Part 1.

Stories out of the past.

EU Should Reinstitute Border Checks:

One of the dangers is that the EU thinks that it is modeling itself on America. It calls itself the United States of Europe. It is implementing new rules and laws that are dangerously inappropriate. My aunt told me that she was on a train coming from Italy to Munich, Germany that went through the Alps. The train stopped in Innsbruck. I think this was in the very early 1970’s. Everybody had to get off the train in the station. Not only did the “putsfraus” or cleaning ladies go aboard to clean everything, the authorities insisted on looking at everybody’s documentation after crossing a border.
If the authorities had checked papers when the rioters entered Hamburg by train, they might have been stopped before they could riot and loot. Instead they marched freely through the train station where we parked 5 years ago looking for the Best Western St. Raphael Hotel nearby. They were carrying a huge sign in front of them saying something like the “war starts here”. It couldn’t have been more obvious what was going on. They were announcing themselves. They should have been arrested before they set any cars afire or looted any shops and told the shop owners that the needed to pay them protection money.
The EU should reinstitute border checks. That is what I am saying.

Hamburg is the setting for several Edward Ware Thrillers at War novels including Map Plot, Wall Street Swastika, and the Cherusci Plot. Germany itself in one of the main settings and themes of the whole series from Cherusci Plot on to Captive at the Berghof, Unlocking Trinity, and other World War 2 and World War 1 novels such as Dark Horse, Salisbury Plot, Map Plot, and Key to Lawrence Special Edition.

The photo published with this blog is one that the authors took in Hamburg at the train station in 2012. It is the place that the protestors used as a port of entry.

Edward Ware Thrillers Newsletter April, 2017:

Cheops Books LLC will be publishing the second volume of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series, the Salisbury Plot, on May 1. Everyone is invited to the launch party on the Cheops Books Facebook Page at 2PM Pacific Time on Monday, May 1. Be entertained by a debate between Winston Churchill and a reporter who is accusing him of being responsible for the arson aboard the Morro Castle in September of 1934. The reporter’s contention is that the map plot that the MP is engaged in was the cause of the fire just as Winston’s slowness in sending ships to rescue the Lusitania on May 7, 1915 was the cause of over 1000 deaths on that day during the Great War. Winston must defend himself as best he can. For indeed he is involved in the plot to hide the Lawrence maps, key to world domination, first from the Kaiser and next from Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. The scene where the Morro Castle catches fire is the opening sequence of the Salisbury Plot.

During the debate you can enter the contest to describe your own worst travel disaster. If you win you will receive a $25.00 Amazon gift certificate to boost your summer vacation reading. Enter other upcoming contests, too, which will be posted in the next several days.

Who is the saboteur following Dora about on the doomed Morro Castle in September of 1934? Who is the terrorist who set fire to the first class writing room on the ocean liner? Who followed Dora and her new husband, Colonel Sir Edward Ware, to Salisbury Cathedral on their wedding day? A creature in a black robe is wielding a sword in the balcony and clanging the bell. The freak seems to summon the legions of the dead who surround them in the hills peppered with bronze age burial mounds, who seem to rise from the cloisters in the center of the cathedral where unknown dead from the Middle Ages still reside. Why does she see her new husband handing money over to the saboteur on her wedding day in a hidden garden of Ware Hall? What does it mean to be married to Colonel Sir Edward Ware? When she finds out the truth it will change Dora’s life forever.

Salisbury Plot is the second volume of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series. The first volume is Key to Lawrence Special Edition. The third volume is Captive at the Berghof Parts 1 and 2, and the fourth volume is Dark Horse. They are all for sale on Amazon Kindle.

Cheops Books LLC has also just published a new young adult thriller by Dora Benley, Mary’s Gone. Creepy St. Simons Island is the setting with the live oaks with drooping moss and big roots that jut up out of the ground and look three hundred years old. Mosquitoes the size of your fist buzz near your leg and vampire-like drive you back into your car. Alligators with yellow eyes spy you from the nearest swamp, and this is the land of swamps. You won’t be able to find your way around the black water with reeds growing out of it any time soon.

Judy has the creeps. Nothing like this brutal stabbing and strangling has ever happened on St. Simons, a peaceful island off the coast of southeast Georgia. She’s seen such things only on TV. But here it is, staring straight back at her from her iPad!

There’s been an attack on a teenage girl her own age at Dunbar Creek, near Ebo Landing in the swamps. It’s a site often visited by ghost tours because of its ghoulish history. Legend has it that a girl from plantation days often appears with a lantern in hand searching for her lost love.

Whether there’s a ghost or not, Judy has no idea. All she knows is that she’d better figure out what’s really going on. The voice that calls her on her cell phone, the one claiming to be the girl from long ago named Margaret the Wanderer, promises that Judy will be her very next victim.

Mary’s Gone is a young adult thriller published by Edward Ware Thrillers YA, an imprint of Cheops Books, LLC. Stories out of the past. It is one of several novels set on St Simons Island. If you enjoyed this book, you might also like Dark 3 also by Dora Benley.

Look forward to other titles in the upcoming months.
