Facebook Party For Salisbury Affair:

Dora and Edward Ware were married at Salisbury Cathedral on September 30, 1934. The cathedral was a stone’s throw away from Edward’s ancestral estate, Ware Hall, which had been in his family since Roman times. Conquerors came to this area of England such as William the Conqueror in 1066. Conquerors went. But nothing much happened in this area of rural England until after the time of the Wares in March of 2018 the Russian government used it as a staging ground for a chemical attack. They were after a spy of all things, which is reminiscent of the action in Salisbury Affair and other books in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series with the von Wessels, Hitler’s top spies, fighting the Wares and Churchill.

The Facebook Party on May 4 will concentrate on this one hundred year old issue of chemical attacks which started during World War 1. Indeed even Hitler was a victim of such an attack. Recently the US, Britain, and France staged a bombing raid on Syria for being a rogue state that still used such weapons against its own people under the aegis of Russia. The Salisbury Affair becomes more than just a story about Dora and Edward.

Who is the saboteur following Dora about on the doomed Morro Castle in September of 1934? Who is the terrorist who set fire to the first class writing room on the ocean liner? Who followed Dora and her new husband, Colonel Sir Edward Ware, to Salisbury Cathedral on their wedding day? A creature in a black robe is wielding a sword in the balcony and clanging the bell. The freak seems to summon the legions of the dead who surround them in the hills peppered with bronze age burial mounds, who seem to rise from the cloisters in the center of the cathedral where unknown dead from the Middle Ages still reside. Why does she see her new husband handing money over to the saboteur on her wedding day in a hidden garden of Ware Hall? What does it mean to be married to Colonel Sir Edward Ware? When she finds out the truth it will change Dora’s life forever.

Carthage Must Be Destroyed Book Cover:

Carthage Must Be Destroyed is the latest in a series of historical thriller novels by Dora Benley about the long ago ancestors of Colonel Sir Edward Ware, or General Lord Edward Ware, of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series about World War 1 and World War 2. Colonel Ware lives outside Salisbury, England, of recent notoriety with the Russian chemical attacks. He lives at his estate called Ware Hall which has been inhabited by his family since Roman times when his ancestor Lucius Antonius fled to Britain after Julius Caesar was assassinated.

Cato the Elder ended every speech in the Roman Senate with the words, “Carthage must be destroyed.” He was a survivor of the Second Punic War fifty years before. Hannibal won the Battle of Cannae and almost marched on Rome itself. He reminded the Romans that Carthage had finished paying its reparations and was now refurbishing its navy. It could sail against them again just as Hannibal himself had crossed the Alps a generation before.

The son of another senator, Gaius Antonius, is picked by Cato to follow him to Carthage to assess the situation. Gaius Antonius sketches the harbor. His eyes light on a ship that is being built. It looks like the finest of its fleet.

When Cato orders the Carthaginians to send one hundred hostages picked from the youth of the noble families of Carthage to Rome to be kept at his latifundia estate, the Princess Tanit arrives. She tries to charm everyone —- for awhile. But soon she and the sketches and maps that Gaius Antonius drew suddenly disappear along with all the hostages.

This sets off a multi-nation chase to get the drawings and maps back again. Cato wants to show the drawing of the fine naval vessel and the threats it represents to the Roman Senate. They are on the verge of declaring war, and Cato and Gaius Antonius want to push them over the edge. Will they make it in time, or will the Carthaginians gain an advantage? Will Princess Tanit and her cohorts escape, or will they get their just deserts?

Candide As A Book For Our Own Time:

Actually the Black Death would have been a good example why people from the late Middle Ages would NEVER visit London and perhaps for a while after that. Sanitation conditions were such that it was better NOT to visit at all. Ditto with the Great Plague, although I am not sure what it was. The same with the Great Fire. Cities were not set up for fire prevention in the old days. It was better NOT to be there. Obviously it would have been crazy to visit London during the Blitz. These are all conditions that mankind has to learn to prevent over time. You are giving ammunition to my argument. If you compare Salisbury with the Black Death, the town ought to be evacuated until such time as mankind comes to understand chemical weapons better and can control them and the conditions they cause. And right now, Gary reports, donations to Salisbury Cathedral are down 40%.

“Fear and hysteria” have nothing to do with it. It is more like being smart. It is called commonsense. You stay away from something that is obviously dangerous. You didn’t comment on what I said about the shore excursions. But Cunard is showing no common sense in having tourists visit places like Guatemala and El Salvador. The US State Department even agrees with me. They could actually be sued.

Taken to its philosophic height this sort of logic culminates in Voltaire’s character, Candide. The young man wanders around Europe witnessing this disaster and that including the Lisbon Earthquake. At the end he concludes that the sane man does not venture outside his own well-cultivated garden. It is not safe. Have you ever heard of Candide? Would you say that there were so many fears and anxieties In Candide‘s life and in Voltaire’s that you could not imagine how they coped?

I have found an intriguing version of Candide on Amazon called the Norton Critical Edition. I will be getting it myself to reacquaint myself with the work which I have not read in its entirety since I was in high school. You should read it too. Candide is after all the great optimist who was taught by his tutor named Pangloss that this is the “best of all possible worlds”. But adventure after adventure sadly proves otherwise. In the end Candide must remind Pangloss that the sum of wisdom is to stay in your own garden and cultivate that.

Salisbury, England Faces Economic Disaster:

Sky News reports one month after the chemical attack on Salisbury by Russia that local businesses are facing economic disaster. Even local patrons don’t want to grocery shop in Salisbury, get petrol, or buy children’s boys. They would rather go out of their way to a different town. And tourist buses don’t stop there anymore. In 2012 on our way to Stonehenge tourist buses stopped in the center of town as a bathroom stop. On the way back, we stopped again at Salisbury Cathedral to have lunch at the Refectory Restaurant at Salisbury Cathedral. Little did Cheops Books LLC know then that this was the last time it would ever be able to visit the repository of the original Magna Carta and see the location where Dora and Edward Ware were married in 1934.

On May 4 Cheops Book LLC will publish Salisbury Affair with an expanded afterword about the Salisbury Incident.

Salisbury Incident:

The American fake news is not at fault here. This Salisbury incident has gotten sparse coverage here just because America is so isolationist and it didn’t happen here. Cheops Books LLC is interested only because we visited Salisbury in 2012 and made it a place of significance in the Edward Ware Thriller Series.

Cheops Books LLC has read that Salisbury is NOT carrying on as normal. It’s tourist trade has taken a big hit. Even people from Great Britain won’t go there let alone tourists from America. This is part of what I am talking about.

Also as to how it spreads, how would you know who was there at the time or who comes from Salisbury if you are a stranger in a strange land? If you are paranoid enough, you would tend to avoid everybody because you don’t know who is who. Also you wonder if these secret Russian agents are still at large. What is their next plan? Are they going after someone else in Great Britain? Who? When? Where? You think you might be unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The Russians may be claiming they were framed, but that is impossible. Terrorists wouldn’t have access to such materials. The guy was a Russian spy. How many others would know that except the Russians? Cheops Books LLC will agree that it may not have been Putin, but it has to be somebody he knows.

Cheops Books LLC will publish Salisbury Affair by Dora Benley on May 4.

Cheops Books LLC Took Shore Excursion To Salisbury:

When Cheops Books LLC took the shore excursion in July of 2012 to Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge, the tour guide told us when we were coming into town in Salisbury about his memories of World War 2 as a little boy. He remembered being given candy by American and Canadian GI’s waiting to be shipped out for operations such as D-Day. He showed us where all the units were housed along the roads as we got closer and closer to Salisbury.

The tour guide did not mention chemical weapons factories outside of Salisbury, but what we suspect is that they must be north of town since south of town is the New Forest which we drove through and which is a national park. But we are sure they are there as you say.

The area around Salisbury has been from time immemorial a place to see the coming and going of armies in Britain from the time of the Romans and Julius Caesar to the time of William the Conqueror and onward to the present time. In fact the whole south coast of England along the Channel from Southampton to Dover is important from the strategic point of view. Dover Castle was actually used during WW2. The evacuation from Dunkirk was directed from the castle.

That is one of the reasons Cheops Books LLC chose Salisbury as the town nearest Ware Hall, home of Colonel Sir Edward Ware, hero of the Edward Ware Thrillers At War Series. It is a military setting. He is in the military. All of his ancestors back to Roman times have been in the military, too.

Still that is no justification for the Russians to use chemical weapons there especially against civilians. Cheops Books LLC remembers that the town also had a medieval atmosphere. Salisbury Cathedral itself had such a medieval feel about it that it might as well have had knights in shining armor at the doors. It certainly had a lot of stained glass windows. All around town are bronze age burial mounds. What is now to happen to all of this?

Cheops Books LLC Betrayed By Russians:

Cheops Books LLC is about to publish a novel in the Edward Ware Thriller Series called Salisbury Affair. It is about Dora and Edward’s wedding at Salisbury Cathedral. We are having a Facebook Party on May 4, and the debate is going to be about this subject.

We here at Cheops Books LLC feel betrayed that the Russians attacked Salisbury. It is as if they attacked our novel. That is a place that the author, Dora Benley, has incorporated into the world of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War novels. It is the town closest to Edward’s estate, Ware Hall, the ancestral home of his family that we find out later goes back to Roman times.

Salisbury Cathedral is where Dora and Edward were married. Ware Hall is practically burned to the ground in Captive at the Berghof by Helga and Hitler in September of 1940 during the Blitz, killing Edward’s mother. That is enough of a profanation.

But this chemical weapon of the Russians is far worse. After World War 2, the Wares renovate Ware Hall with Dora’s money. Leopold later completes the job as he reveals in Dark 3: Special Edition. But you cannot renovate what is contaminated by chemical weapons. It is like radiation. It might be there for a long time and you wouldn’t want to visit again. It turns the town of Salisbury, which our tour guide in 2012 called “God’s own country” along with all of Wiltshire, into Love Canal — or even Chernobyl.

Americans Can Go After The Russians:

Here it doesn’t take Trump or the Congress doing as much. Individuals and individual businesses can go after the Russians. All you have to do is bring a court case against the Russians or a particular Russian. If the Salisbury incident had occurred in the US — God forbid! and I can’t imagine it! — then locals who lived in the town could sue the Russians or the Russian government. The court could attach Russian property in the US to pay for the damages. This is what has discouraged Russians from buying as much property here to begin with.

Cheops Books LLC will publish Unlocking Trinity, the Edward Ware Thrillers at War novel about Stalin and Russia during World War 2.

Crackdown On The Russians:

I am forwarding an article from National Review that Gary read to me last night about the Russians. This says that Cameron when he was PM was trying to get rid of anonymous real estate investments by Russians in London. Then he resigned. The article claims that May has not continued in this direction. The article insists this is why you have so many vacant houses in London — the Russians own them. And these Russians are the Russian elite who have profited under Putin, Putin’s “team” if you will.

The article also says that the former KGB, the Russian intelligence forces, are stronger and bigger than in Soviet times and have become semi-independent of Putin. They act on their own. The article implies that there might be a “rising star” in the intelligence service who might succeed Putin someday or even overthrow him. And the intelligence service was what carried out the Salisbury attack which I deeply resent since we visited Salisbury in 2012.

This joint exercise at the North Pole is exactly what I mean. Do exercises anywhere. As long as you have a show of force the Russians will get it. The Russian navy in particular is no good.

Russia is a main subject in the upcoming Edward Ware Thrillers at War novel Unlocking Trinity.
