Reflections On A Hard Brexit By An American:

Why would a Hard Brexit it be a catastrophe for the people of Great Britain? This is where we don’t see eye to eye. Are people really going to starve? There won’t be food in the stores? I would have to send you care packages from America? The fact that people in England can believe this rot put out by the press perhaps it the legacy of the world wars with food rationing, etc. NO ONE IN AMERICA WOULD BELIEVE IT. This is the legacy of the world wars for America.

i am sure that all the businesses could work things out for themselves. They don’t have to always rely on the government. I am also POSITIVE that the North Sea Trade that I saw going on with my own two eyes would not stop just because you had a no deal Brexit. The Germans would find some way to continue it. Just put the pressure on their shoulders instead of letting them intimidate you.

If trade got cut off with China tomorrow and Trump thumbed his nose at them, no one in America would panic. If we left NATO, the World Trade Organization, the UN, any organization you want to name, people in America would be unaffected. You wouldn’t be able to get them to pay attention. It would be like Y2K in the year 2000 — a complete fantasy.

Trump and Titus: 2000 Years of the Jews in Europe:

Yesterday when Trump was making a speech on the White House steps about his tax cut and congressmen and senators were standing on the stairs, it was reminiscent of the days of ancient Rome when generals had triumphs. In particular I am thinking of the famous triumph of Titus who was then the son of the Emperor Vespasian in the year 70 BC. He defeated the Jews in the First Jewish Roman War and sent them off into the Diaspora from which they did not return until after World War 2 almost two thousand years later. The famous Titus’s Arch which still stands in Rome today depicts this event.

Today the UN took a vote whether to condemn the US for recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. All of the membership of the EU, the western European countries, voted to condemn the US and Israel. Western Europe is showing its long, long tradition of anti-Semitism. Japan also voted to condemn showing that it was once part of the Axis Powers in World War 2, allied with the Nazis and Hitler.

America is trying to right the historic wrong that has gone on for two thousand years. Not that the Diaspora did not contribute greatly to Jewish civilization in making them the democratic country they are now today. But it is time to let them go home again after two thousand years.
The great mystery in the vote was England. All the other Anglo countries either voted with the US or abstained. But England voted to condemn the resolution to make Jerusalem the capital of Israel and to have the US put its embassy there. Yet it was England who promulgated the Balfour Declaration one hundred years ago, starting the movement that ended up creating the modern state of Israel. England has been in decline for a century from the power it once was, but this shows that it is slipping into the orbit of Germany and other continental countries and losing its own ideals that once made it great.

But at least Trumps stands on the White House steps looking like a Roman of old. Now that the Jews are no longer fractious and rebellious the way they were two thousand years ago, he is saying to go home again.

Cheops Books LLC will soon publish an historical thriller involving Titus. It is called Pliny: A Novel. The encyclopedia writer Pliny was a friend of the Emperor Titus and his father Vespasian.

Merkel and May Should Listen to Trump

Angela Merkel and Mrs. May both have recently won re-election with very narrow margins that have required coalition forming. Last autumn Donald Trump was elected President by a much greater margin. The two ladies should listen to him in his message about immigration.

In Sunday’s German election for chancellor, Angela Merkel “won” but it will be her last term. Her center-right party, the Christian Democrats (CDU) (along with their sister party in Bavaria), had the worst showing since 1949, winning only 33% of the vote. The reason: Merkel’s decision in 2015 to open Germany’s borders wide to nearly a million refugees from Syria and other parts of the Middle East. Approximately one million Germans who had voted for the CDU in the last election decided to vote for the new anti-immigration, right-wing party, the Altenative for Germany (AfD), which received 13% of the vote, enough to surpass the 5% threshold for representation in the German Bundestag.

Sunday also saw Donald Trump announce his administration’s new travel restrictions, which will replace the Trump Administration’s original travel ban, as of October 18, 2017. Oral arguments on the original travel ban executive order are due to be heard by the United States Supreme Court on October 10, 2017.

Merkel’s vision of a super-cosmopolitan Europe that can easily handle the assimilation of millions of refugees from other parts of the world has been put on permanent hold. Meanwhile, Trump’s vision of the world – as he recently confirmed by his address to the UN General Assembly – as a collection of nation states who look out for their own interests – including by placing restrictions immigration – is on the rise.

The reason is obvious. Merkel’s vision is simply unrealistic. Neither Germany nor Europe’s other nation states, can digest unlimited immigration from countries that do not share the Western culture and values of Europe. Trump’s vision, on the other hand, allows the nation states of Europe and the rest of the world to maintain their singular identity and thereby thrive.

England, Germany, and America are all settings in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War novels published by Cheops Books LLC. Hitler’s Agent, book six of the series, will be published on October 15.
