Current Promotion: Thrillers About Yellowstone:

Cheops Books LLC is focusing on Yellowstone books by Dora Benley. There is a special focus on Old Faithful Plot and Silver Wolf Moon. Old Faithful Plot is an Edward Ware Thriller, and Silver Wolf Moon is a young adult novel.

In Old Faithful Plot while they are hiding out from Dora’s husband at the Old Faithful Lodge in 1933, Dora and Edward are also hiding Lawrence maps that Churchill has given them and which Hitler would do anything to get his hands on.

Enter Helga and Herr von Wessel, Hitler’s top spies. They warn Colonel Sir Edward Ware and Dora that either they hand over the top secret maps, key to world domination, or they will blow up Yellowstone National Park. They will turn the famous geyser basin into volcanic rubble – and the rest of America, too, which would be buried in volcanic ash just like Pompeii.

And if that doesn’t work they have an even darker plot up their sleeves, one that would change history itself.

In Silver Wolf Moon Darcy Devon can’t take it anymore. Her millionaire parents won’t stop bugging her to date Randolph King, the son of an English client of theirs. She runs away to live in her grandparents’ house in the wilds of Montana. But no sooner does she unpack her suitcase than she notices that somebody who looks like an uncouth madman is following her. Nobody knows who he is. When she goes swimming, somebody is watching her. When she goes to bed, somebody is outside looking in.

Wolves howl at midnight. She looks up at the sky and sees a black moon and shivers. What does this strange dude want with her? Is he escaped from an asylum, or is it something else?

The young adult romantic thriller Silver Wolf Moon was originally published in German by Cora Verlag, Harper Collins Germany, as Silver Wolf. If you liked Silver Wolf Moon you will enjoy other young adult thrillers by Dora Benley such as Rose Red, Murder in Jasper, Mary’s Gone, Latin Lessons, and Dark 3: Special Edition.

Silver Wolf Moon About To Get New Cover:

Silver Wolf Moon, the young adult thriller set in Yellowstone by Dora Benley, is about to get a new cover. Instead of merely a romantic couple locked in an embrace, Cheops Books LLC is arranging for the cover artist to sketch a scene with the romantic couple in the foreground and a silver wolf howling at the moon overhead in the background.

Darcy Devon can’t take it anymore. Edward’s And Dora’s National Park Tour:

In Old Faithful Plot Dora and Edward are headed west along the Lincoln Highway to Yellowstone National Park to escape Adolf Hitler and his spies. The spies are searching for the Lawrence maps, key to world domination, that he happens to have with him. He must hand the maps over to an aid of Winston Churchill, sent to America, before the German dictator does his worst.

But along the way to Yellowstone Dora and Edward get diverted to two other national Parks. They end up in Petrified Forest along Route 66 and even the Grand Canyon National Park. So it turns out to be quite an adventurous romp including a surprise Gila Monster!

There is still time to preorder the alternative history thriller on Amazon. It will be published on June 16.

What Inspired Old Faithful Plot?

Two years ago our Labrador Retriever, barely more than a puppy, was playing inside the walk in closet in the master bedroom. He found an enticing, rolled up big piece of paper that he thought looked like a stick, and you can imagine what happened to it after that.

What the dog did not realize was that the rolled up paper was a souvenir from our visit to Yellowstone National Park. It used to hang in the shed in our former house as a map of the park.
We tried to find a similar map of the park. Yellowstone didn’t sell them anymore. Neither did anybody on eBay.

However, what we we did find offered for sale turned out to be even better than the original map. We located a Motorists Guide Yellowstone National Park 1936. The antique map had an illustration of a bear looking over a precipice dropping to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

Inside was a treasure house of information to the way the park used to be for visitors in a more polite, more elite time when most of the visitors were wealthy tourists who came West on the train. It led Dora Benley to think of an episode of the Edward Ware Thrillers concerning this antique map of Yellowstone. Thus Old Faithful Plot was born.

This story underlines the importance of real life maps in our thrillers about map plots.

Old Faithful Plot is soon to be published by Cheops Books LLC on June 16.

Two Thrillers By Dora Benley:

Here we have two very different novels, both by Dora Benley and both set in Yellowstone. One is a YA mystery. The other is an adult thriller. One called Silver Wolf Moon was entered in the RWA RITA contest this year. The other, Old Faithful Plot, is an Edward Ware Thrillers at War novel about to be published on June 16.

Darcy Devon can’t take it anymore. Old Faithful Plot is book 7 of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series. Other already published books in the series are Salisbury Affair and Hitler’s Chief Spy.

Yellowstone Article Like Old Faithful Plot:

Today there is an article on weather.com about Yellowstone the Supervolcano. It is called Yellowstone Caldera: Next Eruption Could Be A Major Disaster. The article suggests that the park and scientists should start monkeying around with the volcano which is against park service philosophy. In the soon to be published historical thriller novel Old Faithful Plot by Dora Benley, Hitler has the von Wessels monkeying around with Old Faithful as part of a plot. That is what this article reminds me of.

Here are some lines from the article. I wonder if sensational articles like this have increased tourism to the park:

The ash spewed by such an explosion could create a global “volcanic winter” by blanketing parts of continents with soot.

To help prevent such a catastrophic event, the researchers suggested drilling into the peak to extract heat and pump water through it. The water would circulate and reach more than 600 degrees Fahrenheit before coming back out, which could slowly remove heat from the peak and prevent it from erupting.

“It has been suggested that the hydrothermal circulation at Yellowstone may cool the underlying magma and may lead to decreased long-term volcanic hazards,” wrote the scientists.

More research needs to be done to figure out how to best protect the planet from a supervolcano eruption, the researchers also said.

Giveaway Widget Appears On The Old Faithful Plot Website:

In the case of Yellowstone no white man had ever lived there before when Lewis and Clark heard about it on their expedition West. In fact, it was a superstitious place because of the hot springs and geysers and no Indian had ever lived there either. This was a famous example of true wilderness, and Lincoln and Grant almost immediately got the idea that it should be preserved that way. It was the first national park created in 1872. It was the birth of the whole national park idea or concept. Since we now know that Yellowstone is the caldera of one of earth’s two super volcanoes, it is hardly the sort of place that you could use for some other activity other than tourism or research anyway. The weather is too severe for year round habitation.

This is where Dora and Edward suddenly find themselves in 1933. While they are hiding out from Dora’s husband at the Old Faithful Lodge in 1933, Dora and Edward are also hiding Lawrence maps that Churchill has given them and which Hitler would do anything to get his hands on. Enter Helga and Herr von Wessel, Hitler’s top spies. Old Faithful Plot will go on sale on July 16 on Amazon and on our website: http://www.edwardwarethrillers.org. The Goodreads giveaway to get a free copy of the Kindle edition will start on May 17.

Dora Benley Could Be Giving Away Silver Wolf Moon:

Would you like a free copy of Silver Wolf Moon? And this time it would be a paperback, too, not a Kindle edition. The first paperback copies of the young adult romantic thriller novel ever printed could be distributed in Denver at the Sheraton Downtown in mid July. Dora Benley could be there in person to autograph the books and give them away to the lucky recipients. Look for more details in future blog posts on this Edward Ware Thrillers website created by Cheops Books LLC.

Which Travel Plot Would You Vote For?

Which one plot of these travel plots will actually appear in an Edward Ware Thrillers at War novel? The first plot: Drive from Tucson, Arizona through Las Cruces to Santa Fe. Pause awhile in Denver, Colorado. Then continue on through Cheyenne, Wyoming to Pinedale. And from there you drive to Jackson Hole, the Tetons, and Yellowstone beyond that.

Second plot: You drive from Tucson, Arizona east through El Paso and West Texas. You drive through Little Rock and Memphis straight through Tennessee and into Virginia. You drive up the Valley of Virginia and proceed east to New York City and the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Then you take ship across the Atlantic to Southampton where you transfer to another ship and continue on to the Mediterranean. First you stop in Porto in Portugal. Next it is on to Barcelona, Spain and Port Mahon, Spain. Next is Ajaccio, Corsica to say hello to where Napoleon was born. Beyond that you go to Rome, Cagliari, Sardinia, and Gibraltar to meet the apes before returning to Southampton and then back to New York.

Plot three is sort of a combination of the two plots above. You start the plot in Tucson, Arizona and proceed up to Yellowstone and the Tetons. From there you take a cross country route through Pittsburgh to New York. You sail across the Atlantic but this time to Hamburg, Germany. You take an overnight train to Rome and return a couple days later to return via the same sea route to New York.
Find out more tomorrow.

Should Dora And Edward Hike Off To The Tetons?

No, you would not hike here in Tucson in the summer, probably not even on Mt. Lemmon. But I’m not totally sure about that one. Considering that the elevation is 9 thousand feet, maybe. It is the same elevation at the top as the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. And even the South Rim of the Grand Canyon at 7 thousand feet is a place where people hike during the summer.

A really good place to hike during the summer in the West is Jackson Hole or the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming right next to Yellowstone. It is part of the Rocky Mountains. Here when you are out on a hike you are likely to meet a moose or an elk herd. It is really picture perfect. A lot of this land was donated to the US government by John D. Rockefeller Jr. I should post some photos. I could just see Dora or Edward throwing the Lawrence maps to an elk as he hurried past to be retrieved later when Helga wasn’t following them! Perhaps that is a clue for checking out Old Faithful Plot where Dora and Edward head to Wyoming.
