The Carthaginian City of Nora:
In Julia: A Romance the heroine encounters various challenges from different sources. One of the biggest challenges comes from her future husband’s position in the empire and his travels. He insists that she learn Greek but he won’t say why at first. Nor will he tell her the important part to be played in the plot of intrigue by cities such as the Carthaginian city of Nora.
At the time of the novel, 82BC, Rome has just put an end to the first civil war between Marius and Sulla with Sulla’s victory. Sulla, the Dictator of Rome, has also just conquered the city state of Athens. Sisenna mentions to Julia that certain disaffected Roman aristocrats had recently been sent to a kind of exile on Sardinia near the ancient city of Nora. It is one of the many colorful locales that plays a part in the novel. In a sense the historical thriller takes in locations all over the ancient Greek and Roman world.
Julia: A Romance by Dora Benley will be published next year by Cheops Books LLC.

Edward Ware Thrillers Newsletter December, 2017
During the past month, Cheops Books LLC has published a number of young adult thrillers. This includes Helen of Troy, Latin Lessons, Murder at the Sphinx, Silver Wolf Moon, and Minotaur.
On December 15 Cheops Books published its first German edition of Captive at the Berghof part 1.
Coming in mid January next year in 2018 will be a grand giveaway on goodreads.com for Book of the Dead by Dora Benley. This time there will be one hundred Kindle titles to give away to contestants:
As soon as the King family settles in their new house in Cairo things begin to change rapidly. On Leona’s birthday her stepdaughter gives her an ancient scroll full of hieroglyphics. Her husband tells Leona it is a Book of the Dead, an ancient Egyptian text full of spells and magic chants to help the newly dead person gain admission into the afterlife, the Land of the Setting Sun. The scroll is to help him avoid getting eaten by the Devourer after his heart is weighed on the scales of truth against a feather and found wanting. Leona has no idea where Margaret got such a scroll. She remembers seeing her in the souk, taking something from a woman covered with dark veils from head to foot with only a claw-like hand protruding.
From that moment on Leona’s once perfect world closes in on her. She finds herself kidnapped, locked in a tomb, nearly driven mad, and tormented by an Egyptian spirit who has somehow been loosed on her. She must fight for her very life in this supernatural novel about Egyptian archaeology in the 1920’s.
If you enjoyed Book of the Dead by Dora Benley you will enjoy her other historical thrillers about the ancient world and Egypt such as Doom of Egypt, Curse of the Pharaoh, Murder at the Sphinx, Curse of the Pharaoh, and Cleopatra’s Stone.
Look for the schedule of publications for next year in the January newsletter. It will feature books in the Edward Ware Thriller Series that commemorate the end of World War 1 one hundred years ago in 1918.

Cheops Books LLC: 10 Years On Kindle:
Did you know that this autumn marks ten years of Kindle? I looked it up in my journals, and I bought the first Kindle the first month it was being sold in November of 2007. I hadn’t read any news stories about it. I just came across the device suddenly being marketed on Amazon. I knew that for years manufacturers had been coming up with various e devices, none of which caught on.
I said to myself when I read about Kindle, “This is it! It seems like it will work.” And this was before I read a single news story. And I was right, of course. The real key, of course, was that Amazon already had all these books to sell.
We here at Cheops Books LLC started to list titles on Kindle almost right away in 2008. It took us four years until the late spring of 2012 to get all our titles listed. We even did hardback collections of all the young adult novels. We also started to publish Edward Ware Thrillers at War on Kindle. Now all our titles are Kindle exclusives. You can’t buy them any other way except on our own website: http://www.edwardwarethrillers.org.
Ever since we have been continuing to list our titles on Kindle under two authors: Linda Cargill and Dora Benley. We have just published Silver Wolf Moon. On November 1 we will be publishing Dark 1 by Dora Benley.

The B-Mobile, The New Cheops Books, LLC Van:
On Friday, October 13, the spookiest day of the year, Cheops Books LLC acquired a new van, the B-Mobile, to use on all its ramblings, wanderings, and official business. It replaces the previous Bearmobile that lasted more than eleven years since July of 2006 until this very October.
The previous mobile took Cheops Books LLC and its authors on various expeditions to the shores of Oregon at Brookings, Oregon, the Redwood Coast of California, the Wine Country, and Yosemite. It drove our team to southeast Arizona to visit the town too tough to die, Tombstone, Arizona. It also took us on both our ramblings to Santa Fe, New Mexico where part of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series is set. Remember the Manhattan Project at nearby Los Alamos? The site of the first atomic bomb explosion was not faraway, and the previous Bearmobile drove us right past it with lots of photo opportunities.
Perhaps most notably the previous Bearmobile took our party of editors, authors, and illustrators to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to board the Queen Mary 2. And the minivan did it not just once, but twice, last in 2015 just two years ago. That was our route to Europe to research the Edward Ware Thrillers at War especially in Germany and England.
It enabled us to stand in the stands where Hitler addressed his adoring crowds in Nuremberg and took us up into the Alps Mountains to see the site of Hitler’s Berghof, which was important for the novel Captive at the Berghof. In England it enabled us to visit Salisbury Cathedral in the south of England that gave its name to the Edward Ware Thrillers novel, Salisbury Plot by Dora Benley, soon to be published in a brand new edition. And it enabled us one hundred years after the event to sail past the spot of the sinking of the Lusitania off the coast of Ireland, the setting for Key to Lawrence: Special Edition.
Now the new B-Mobile will be the one to guide us through the wilderness and down the interstates to whatever destination is next to appear as the subject of a thriller novel published by us.

Cheops Books Goes To The ALA And Frankfurt:
This summer has been an unprecedented season of marketing here at Cheops Books LLC. We have had our books all over the place. Last month Hitler’s Agent, soon to be published on October 15, went to the American Library Association Convention in Chicago. It was displayed at the IBPA Cooperative Booth. Just this past week in July Cheops Books LLC sent an eblast to K-12 librarians to announce the publication of Dark 3: Special Edition to be published on September 15. Next month Cheops Books is to be part of a cooperative catalog to be sent out to independent bookstores advertising Dark 3: Special Edition.
In October we will be sending booth Hitler’s Agent and Dark 3: Special Edition to the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany. The titles to be published this autumn will be at the IBPA booth.
In addition we have just had an audio book recorded for Salisbury Plot. We used an exciting new voice never to be repeated again but special only for this one Edward Ware Thrillers at War novel. This edition will soon appear on audible.
For Dark 3: Special Edition we have been working with an artist in Ukraine named Andrew. He has illustrated the book for us with his black and white sketches and drawings of the characters.
Work also continues on the German translation of Captive at the Berghof: Part 1.
Stories out of the past.

Cheops Books Needs A Typist:
Cheops Books LLC is in need of a typist. We have an ongoing project where we are keying in all our past note taking journals which were hand written on the fly as we were doing various other tasks or traveling on the road here and there. The handwriting is very legible. Each journal is only about 150 pp long at the most.
We have been posting ads for this assignment on Upwork. But we decided that we should also post it on our website in the daily blog. We are willing to pay $100.00/journal.
If you are somebody you know is interested in being our typist please respond to Cheops Books LLC using the CONTACT US form on the website: http://www.edwardwarethrillers.org. Or you can contact us on Upwork.
