A Peter The Great Move Needed:
Yes, supposedly Trump is now expelling Russian diplomats from the US. Although it is “showy” and captures news headlines, how is it going to harm Moscow or change Moscow? Even if they broke off diplomatic relations, what is it going to accomplish? Maybe it is like snubbing Moscow, but Moscow is accustomed to being snubbed. They have closed down the consulate in Seattle. The Russians are closing consulates. This is not going to change anything.
We need a Peter the Great move. He went to Amsterdam and studied the Dutch. He learned to build canals in St. Petersburg. The Americans, British, French, Germans, etc should declare they are going to build more canal boats in St. Petersburg — anything like this would cause more change than all the diplomats could you possibly shift around. In an ideal world Trump should declare that he is going to build an air base in Siberia or even build roads in Russia. And if Putin were going to become like Peter the Great he would connect himself with such a move.
The Edward Ware Thrillers at War novel about Russia is Unlocking Trinity.

If I Were May Or Trump:
If I were May I would not stop making a point to the Russians until the point is actually made. You cannot have Russia attacking England with chemical weapons and endangering innocent civilians in peace time. If you accept that sort of thing and don’t make a point of it, who knows what the Russians will try next.
If I were in charge of the US which I am not, I would announce that the Russians were teaming up with the US to fight dissident elements in other countries around Russia. For instance there are lots of “stans”. I would say we had decided to build an American air force base in Siberia and thus a British air force base, too. I wonder what the Russians would really do. Would Putin try to stop us? Would he attack? Actually I doubt it. I think he would pretend to go along with it because he had no choice.
Also in Russia this would make him immensely popular. There is nothing the common everyday Russians would like better than Americans and British people bringing money and jobs. America in particular is NOT on Russia’s traditional enemy list. If Putin carried it off, he might become as famous as Peter the Great in Russian history who was the most western leaning czar. But sadly the US isn’t that interested in Russia to help prop it up like this.
Cheops Books LLC will soon publish Unlocking Trinity, the Edward Ware Thrillers novel about Russia.

Russia And The Nerve Agent:
Where you get the idea that dysfunctional countries have all this power I have no idea except that it makes a good story. First you think North Korea is a threat. Now you think Russia is a threat, maybe China too. Russia is at the foot of the west, the same position it occupied one hundred years ago during WW1 and the Russian Revolution. (It was even at the foot of the west before that during the time of the czars when Peter the Great imitated Holland and other European countries when he built St. Petersburg).
Russia was the country that suffered the most during WW1 and WW2, hardly a position that would make it a threat. It has never had much of an economy, and its people were all too recently freed from serfdom. The powers that created the world wars were the leading powers, and are still the leading powers such as the US, England, Japan, Germany, etc. Hardly surprising. (Germany, by the way, is the KEY to making Russia actually work. Historically this has been true since before the time of Peter the Great. )
The Russians don’t have the power to do much of anything at all. The real danger — and it actually happened one hundred years ago — is that if you put pressure on the farce that is the Russian government it will implode and cause chaos within Russia and a tanks in the streets the way you did in the early 1990s after the fall of the Soviet Union. You will have a civil war that will rock Eastern Europe and cause chaos that will affect western Europe. This is what the western powers are trying to avoid.
The Russians would NEVER shoot a missile at America. It is doubtful if their technology is up to it, but even if it is, they know it would spell the end of their country. Beating America into space is laughable and hardly worth mentioning. If America is not pursuing the space station it is because they don’t want to. Private individuals such as Jeff Bezos are doing it here instead. Russia in WW2 showed how their army didn’t hold together in Berlin and fought itself. Stalin tried to make his generals compete with each other, etc — totally stupid. The only reason they got that far was because of American aid.
This nerve agent was supposedly something that was stockpiled during World War 2 and never used. After the war you were supposed to destroy your reserves of it. The Russians claimed that they had gotten rid of all of it — ha! They obviously kept the stockpile. This is an attack on Britain with war grade chemical weapons and should be treated as such. Such things should NEVER be permitted, and this is a flagrant violation of the rule that should not be allowed to get out of hand.
Even if the Americans don’t participate, the British navy should sail past St. Petersburg, Russia and warn the Russians.
Russia and the Russian Dictator Stalin played an important part in the upcoming Edward Ware Thrillers at War novel Unlocking Trinity.

Edward Ware Thrillers at War in History:
Edward Ware Thrillers at War discusses themes of British and German history. I don’t think England ever had anything like the Thirty Years War in Germany, the big bad religious war between Catholics and Protestants that according to Gary made WW1 and WW2 look like a picnic by comparison. The Thirty Years War left more people dead than the Black Death. It was the worst war in German history by far. Henry VIII was pretty bad but he wasn’t as bad as the Thirty Years War with all his monastery burning, etc. In fact England has been pretty dominant in Europe since the days of the Tudors, certainly since the days of the Glorious Revolution. And England was where the Industrial Revolution started in the 18th century. England obviously had more colonies than anybody else and a much bigger Empire, too. Even at the beginning of WW1 there were articles in American newspapers about the British Navy off the coast of North America PROTECTING US. People in the US felt safe with Great Britain there.
Then came WW1 and WW2, and we know the story. Since that takes us to the present era, we can’t say what will be the next chapter for England. But it has the strange and unusual advantage of having its language be the dominant one in the world. Also the US speaks English. Britain is allowed all sorts of special advantages in Europe because of its relationship with the US. The Germans will go only so far because of this. But in a sense I think it is the Germans, not the Russians, who are still the real opposition to the US and to England despite the fact that they have almost no armed forces.
Germany was the home of both Communism and Facism. I think East Germany was propping up the whole Soviet Union somehow. Hitler and Stalin were playing at dividing up Eastern Europe. More recently Merkel and Putin came up with some natural gas or oil or both agreement which is what Poland doesn’t like because it remembers the days of Stalin and Hitler. Putin speaks German. He feels comfortable in Germany and the Netherlands. So did Peter the Great of Russia who tried to model St. Petersburg on Amsterdam. Germany has been a big influence in Russia for a long time. Catherine the Great came from Germany and was originally Lutheran. There is something going on between Russia and Germany that has been percolating for centuries. Just remember the extreme leftist riots that greeted Trump a few weeks ago in Hamburg.
Also Germany since the mid 19th century has been expanding and trying to create an empire. My mother had a book from college called Germany Will Try It Again about a theme of modern German history. That is why I say they are the real enemy.
These are the themes that controlled the race to find the Lawrence maps, key to world domination, that are featured in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series. Will it be the Germans under the Kaiser or Hitler? Or will it be the British and Americans under Churchill and Roosevelt? The battle continues to the present day.
