Facebook Party For Salisbury Affair:

Dora and Edward Ware were married at Salisbury Cathedral on September 30, 1934. The cathedral was a stone’s throw away from Edward’s ancestral estate, Ware Hall, which had been in his family since Roman times. Conquerors came to this area of England such as William the Conqueror in 1066. Conquerors went. But nothing much happened in this area of rural England until after the time of the Wares in March of 2018 the Russian government used it as a staging ground for a chemical attack. They were after a spy of all things, which is reminiscent of the action in Salisbury Affair and other books in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series with the von Wessels, Hitler’s top spies, fighting the Wares and Churchill.

The Facebook Party on May 4 will concentrate on this one hundred year old issue of chemical attacks which started during World War 1. Indeed even Hitler was a victim of such an attack. Recently the US, Britain, and France staged a bombing raid on Syria for being a rogue state that still used such weapons against its own people under the aegis of Russia. The Salisbury Affair becomes more than just a story about Dora and Edward.

Who is the saboteur following Dora about on the doomed Morro Castle in September of 1934? Who is the terrorist who set fire to the first class writing room on the ocean liner? Who followed Dora and her new husband, Colonel Sir Edward Ware, to Salisbury Cathedral on their wedding day? A creature in a black robe is wielding a sword in the balcony and clanging the bell. The freak seems to summon the legions of the dead who surround them in the hills peppered with bronze age burial mounds, who seem to rise from the cloisters in the center of the cathedral where unknown dead from the Middle Ages still reside. Why does she see her new husband handing money over to the saboteur on her wedding day in a hidden garden of Ware Hall? What does it mean to be married to Colonel Sir Edward Ware? When she finds out the truth it will change Dora’s life forever.

Salisbury Affair: Thrills And Chills:

On May 4 Cheops Books LLC will publish Salisbury Affair, book two of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series. There will be a Goodreads Giveaway on the same day for Salisbury Affair, which is soon to be open for entries to win one of 100 available Kindle books. Also on May 4 Cheops Books LLC will host a Facebook Party from 2PM to 9PM Pacific Time. The subject under debate will be the Salisbury chemical poisoning incident that became so notorious this past month. This Russian incident has defaced the area where Edward Ware had his estate, Ware Hall, and contrasted terribly with the pastoral setting and Salisbury Cathedral where the Wares were married. However, Salisbury Affair is an historical thriller novel and the thrills and chills obviously continue to the present day.

Who is the saboteur following Dora about on the doomed Morro Castle in September of 1934? Who is the terrorist who set fire to the first class writing room on the ocean liner? Cheops Books LLC Took Shore Excursion To Salisbury:

When Cheops Books LLC took the shore excursion in July of 2012 to Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge, the tour guide told us when we were coming into town in Salisbury about his memories of World War 2 as a little boy. He remembered being given candy by American and Canadian GI’s waiting to be shipped out for operations such as D-Day. He showed us where all the units were housed along the roads as we got closer and closer to Salisbury.

The tour guide did not mention chemical weapons factories outside of Salisbury, but what we suspect is that they must be north of town since south of town is the New Forest which we drove through and which is a national park. But we are sure they are there as you say.

The area around Salisbury has been from time immemorial a place to see the coming and going of armies in Britain from the time of the Romans and Julius Caesar to the time of William the Conqueror and onward to the present time. In fact the whole south coast of England along the Channel from Southampton to Dover is important from the strategic point of view. Dover Castle was actually used during WW2. The evacuation from Dunkirk was directed from the castle.

That is one of the reasons Cheops Books LLC chose Salisbury as the town nearest Ware Hall, home of Colonel Sir Edward Ware, hero of the Edward Ware Thrillers At War Series. It is a military setting. He is in the military. All of his ancestors back to Roman times have been in the military, too.

Still that is no justification for the Russians to use chemical weapons there especially against civilians. Cheops Books LLC remembers that the town also had a medieval atmosphere. Salisbury Cathedral itself had such a medieval feel about it that it might as well have had knights in shining armor at the doors. It certainly had a lot of stained glass windows. All around town are bronze age burial mounds. What is now to happen to all of this?

Cheops Books LLC Betrayed By Russians:

Cheops Books LLC is about to publish a novel in the Edward Ware Thriller Series called Salisbury Affair. It is about Dora and Edward’s wedding at Salisbury Cathedral. We are having a Facebook Party on May 4, and the debate is going to be about this subject.

We here at Cheops Books LLC feel betrayed that the Russians attacked Salisbury. It is as if they attacked our novel. That is a place that the author, Dora Benley, has incorporated into the world of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War novels. It is the town closest to Edward’s estate, Ware Hall, the ancestral home of his family that we find out later goes back to Roman times.

Salisbury Cathedral is where Dora and Edward were married. Ware Hall is practically burned to the ground in Captive at the Berghof by Helga and Hitler in September of 1940 during the Blitz, killing Edward’s mother. That is enough of a profanation.

But this chemical weapon of the Russians is far worse. After World War 2, the Wares renovate Ware Hall with Dora’s money. Leopold later completes the job as he reveals in Dark 3: Special Edition. But you cannot renovate what is contaminated by chemical weapons. It is like radiation. It might be there for a long time and you wouldn’t want to visit again. It turns the town of Salisbury, which our tour guide in 2012 called “God’s own country” along with all of Wiltshire, into Love Canal — or even Chernobyl.

Hitler’s Agent Visits Paris, France:

In the wake of Trump’s visit to Paris for Bastille Day we have been discussing France. I have used France occasionally as a setting for my novels. I did use the French part of Belgium, Wallonia, as the setting for Inn at the Crossroads, my novel about Napoleon. But France itself has managed to wedge its way in there once in a blue moon. For instance Dora and Edward meet Churchill at the Ritz Hotel for a long luncheon right after they escape Hitler’s clutches in the novel Hitler’s Agent, which I am about to publish on October 15. They have just escaped Mussolini in Venice and sailed through the Mediterranean out past the Rock of Gibraltar to Paris going in that direction. Dora has Thomasina with her and is surrounded by guards that she has hired for the occasion to protect her from the Nazis. Helga, who is Hitler’s Agent, and Herr von Wessel make an entrance into the dining room. They send Dora notes about the Lawrence maps, key to world domination, with the cooperation of the waiters. Helga is seated by a statue of Venus. But Dora puts an end to that, too. It is one of the few occasions where Helga is in the same room with Churchill. The two don’t mix well as characters, mind you. But at least on that occasion Dora and Edward managed to escape back to Ware Hall in the south of England for more adventures. For the historical thriller, Hitler’s Agent, does not end there.

Dora And Edward Should Book A Mediterranean Cruise in 2018:
One year from today on Friday, June 8, 2018 the Queen Victoria sets out on a 14-night Mediterranean cruise that should interest Dora and Edward Ware with all their connections all over Europe. What is better the cruise embarks in Southampton and returns them to Southampton at the end of the cruise so they can easily drive right back to Ware Hall in the south of England or they can drive into London and take up residence at the Savoy at their apartment. The following ports of call are on the itinerary of Mediterranean Highlights: Oporto, Barcelona, Port Mahon, Ajaccio, Citavecchia, Cagliari, and Gibraltar.
Ajaccio should interest them. That is the place on the island of Corsica where Napoleon was born. There is a statue of the Emperor there as well as a house that was in the Bonaparte family until the 1920s. Edward’s great-grandfather served under Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo in the upcoming Cheops Books LLC historical thriller, Inn at the Crossroads.
Citavecchia is the port of Rome. Edward has a big chase scene through all sorts of Italian formal gardens in the historical thriller, Map Plot. He could take a shore excursion to Hadrian’s Villa or the Villa de Este with all its waterfalls.
And finally Gibraltar would always be of interest. In the historical thriller soon to be published by Cheops Books LLC, Hitler’s Agent, Dora and Edward pay a visit to the island of Gibraltar to refuel their yacht. They need to get back to Paris to meet with Winston Churchill at the Ritz Hotel. Dora enlists some local apes to help escape from Hitler and his agents.

Wilson to Trump: 100 Years War:
Is The End Of Terrorism Near?
In the Edward Ware Thriller Series Dora and Edward are always reflecting that Hitler is everywhere and they can’t escape him — a kind of terrorism. And if it’s not Hitler it is Hitler’s spies or earlier the Kaiser’s spies looking for the fabled Lawrence maps, key to world domination. Dora finds a saboteur in her shed in Pittsburgh in the South Hills. She ends up having to shoot him herself. At other times saboteurs interrupt them on the beach outside New York City, Coney Island. At another time the spies find them in a cabin in the woods outside Santa Fe, New Mexico. They follow them to Yellowstone. They steal items from their house in England at Ware Hall. There is nowhere Dora and Edward can go in the world to be safe.
Oddly enough it feels like that right now for real in the US and the world in general. Terrorists nowadays might not be after the Lawrence maps. But they seem to be after YOU and everybody else just to make a political point or whatever. Starting two years ago they focused on scaring everybody in Europe. It all seemed to have to do with the migrant crisis. More refugees were on the move than at any time since World War 2. But because Europe, particularly Germany, opened its doors to them Europe now seems to be vulnerable to terrorists in a big way. The Mediterranean in particular seems to be a hotbed of unrest. If you can say that the migrant crisis helped to lead to Brexit, then it helps to explain by there was just recently a confrontation at Gibraltar between England and Spain, the entrance to the Mediterranean. Apparently migrants have used the Mediterranean to cross in boats. The French Riviera town of Nice was shot up in a big way. And now we have Trump launching missiles from a ship in the Mediterranean, making it a war zone, not just a zone of terrorism.
Even if Trump’s missile strike helps to deter the use of chemical and biological weapons by big states, it does not do much to deter terrorism. In the days before the strike there was a terrorist attack in London on Westminster Bridge. The day AFTER the missile strike, another terrorist struck in Stockholm of all places. What is a terrorist doing in Stockholm in Scandanavia? You would think it would be the last place they would go. Are they going to appear in Oslo or Copenhagen next? Is there no place safe? The top of Mt. Everest? The North Pole?
Hopefully the terrorist situation will be resolved somehow during the next few years. I view it as the last stage of the Great War which has turned out to be a 100 years war indeed. All the liberation movements and revolutions that it unleashed have to become history someday. That some day should be soon. But somebody like Trump will have to take the lead. His opening volley is good. He made a big splash with his missile strike. But the big question is what will he do next?

Nightmare at Ware Hall: Salisbury Plot:
The reader will find himself often visiting Colonel Sir Edward Ware’s estate calle Ware Hall in the south of England just outside Salisbury in the New Forest. Scene after scene in many of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series take place there. The reader first gets introduced to the centuries old abode of the Ware family in Key to Lawrence Special Edition. He sees it from the point of view of Miss Dora Benley, fresh from America, whom Edward has just rescued from the wreck of the Lusitania in 1915. In the second novel of the series which is being published this spring on May 1, Key to 1935: The Salisbury Plot, Nightmare at Ware Hall, the reader sees the estate through the eyes of the new bride, again fresh from America and the sinking of the Morro Castle in which she has lost her first husband, Michael Byrne. Dora finds Ware Hall a mysterious place full of secrets which she cannot fathom. She hears whisperings in the hallway at night. When she looks her mother-in-law is whispering to her husband. She can only make out a word here and there. She comes upon her husband meeting with the young man that she first encountered on the Morro Castle, the young man who sank the ship. They are talking heatedly in the garden. She sees Edward paying him money, and she cannot figure out what her upstanding husband would have to do with a saboteur. Edward invited the same young man to their wedding. She was shocked to see him in the receiving line at her new home. Worse someone sets the estate on fire late one night, and the servants have to form a bucket brigade. Who is after Dora and her husband and why?
The world of Ware Hall, estate of the Ware family for 2000 years back to Roman times, adds to the atmosphere of this historical thriller, Salisbury Plot, that takes place during the 1930’s. It lends the suspense novel a gothic charm.

Dora Benley is the only daughter of Robber Baron Winthrop Benley, a Pittsburgh industrialist of the early twentieth century. A way to understand her influence and wealth is that she was as wealthy at that time period as President Donald Trump is right now. Her wealth is important to the plot of the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series. When her husband, Colonel Sir Edward Ware, must suddenly dash abroad or rent a cottage or sail across the North Atlantic Dora’s vast wealth is always there to assist him. At one point the Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin and the Chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler, ask her to hostess the new German Ambassador Ribbentropp and his entourage at her estate, Ware Hall, in the south of England. Only she can do this because she can afford the 20,000 pound bill for the lavish evening. Only she has a house big enough to sleep the entire delegation. It has often been said that money and politics are in bed together. Here in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series the marriage of Dora and Edward Ware is a perfect illustration of that truism.
