Too Crowded Even In September: The Santa Fe Plaza
Gary and I took the dog and cat up the street toward the Plaza. After about a block, Gary took the dog back to the car. We proceeded with just the cat in the stroller. I found a shop that sold postcards, bumper stickers, magnets, and T-shirts. I couldn’t find a bathroom so we went back to get the car. I took movies driving around the Plaza. This was much better than walking around it which was too slow. We found a parking lot which was even better yet and paid for one hour. We strolled down Water Street between the Loretto Chapel and La Fonda. We went inside La Fonda, found more postcards and a booklet, and took lots and lots of photos. We had tea and ice cream at La Plazuela Restaurant. As far as walking around the greensward in the middle of the Plaza went it was too crowded, and this was the middle of September. Nor did we have time to see the Palace of the Governors to one side of it. We walked back to the parking lot instead and went back to the Hilton to check in. There were all sorts of shops, art galleries, museums, and restaurants around the Plaza, but in conclusion it was just too crowded to enjoy properly. The only really accessible part of it was La Fonda. But at least the Plaza was pet-friendly. P.S. Later in my visit I was able to buy a painting from an art gallery located near a parking lot. This was the highlight of my visit there.
