Where I live in Tucson, Arizona there are no deciduous trees. The only trees are a few small native ones that are evergreens. For instance, the Palo Verde tree has green bark and grows to be only about 12 or 15 feet high. Much of the time it doesn’t even have leaves. Pine trees aren’t native at this elevation but they’ve been planted anyway along with palm trees imported from elsewhere. Needless to say no one has to shut down the power to cut the trees. It looks like something out of Lawrence of Arabia. That’s probably one of the reasons I decided to write about him. Supposedly one of the producers of the film Lawrence of Arabia grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and said he wanted to make films about the desert.
