Carissa used to be a normal teenage girl until she acquired Algernon for a next door neighbor — the new rich boy next door who can’t take no for an answer. He calls her on the phone. She hangs up. He buys her gifts. She tries to return and ignore them. She can’t got to a restaurant to have a meal without finding out that it has been paid for in advance by Algernon. She tries on a dress for the spring dance. It is compliments of Algernon. Pretty soon he is in her face every minute of the day. She is awakened by the sound of digging in Algernon’s yard. Peering over the fence she and her pets find out that he is digging a deep hole. When she asks what he is doing at 3AM, he jumps into the bottom of the hole and asks her to join him. He reaches out for her and says they could be together forever.

Does this guy have a screw loose? Or is it something else? Carissa had better figure it out very soon, or something very Edgar Allen Poe like might happen next.
