Castles, Vineyards, and History:
We visited the Rhine River from Remagen to Koblenz and then continued on past the Deutsches Eck to the Moselle at Trier. At every stop along the highway there was another small town like Remagen with its history and its cathedral or historic church with original mom and pop bookstores full of local lore at every turn. The remains of the Bridge at Remagen impressed us as did St. Apollinaris. Just south of Koblenz Marksburg Castle rose from the tallest hill.Everywhere along the Rhine (and Moselle) vineyards filled the slopes of the hills. Impressive greenery, trees, flowers, and bushes created wonderful walking paths for your idle moments.
