Dora and Edward had many a cold, dreary, dark day at Ware Hall in the south of England, but in Tennessee? It pelted rain as we drove along I-40 from Memphis to Hurricane Mills where the Log Cabin Restaurant is located. But we knew we were in the Deep South at every rest stop as we approached it. We saw Confederate flags and mammy memorabilia from plantation days. We started and finished the day with sugar cured ham steaks (not the salty kind). It’s a specialty at the Log Cabin Restaurant. For dinner there I enjoyed sweet potato casserole, another specialty. Southern gothic weather and moonlight and magnolia at dinner combined for a memorable day in the very southern state of Tennessee.
