Haunted Hampton Court:
I well remember visiting Henry VIII’s infamous palace, Hampton Court, 11 miles west of London when I was 13 years old. I was anxious to see if the palace would evoke the same spooky feeling that it did when I was a kid. I remember standing there while a guide narrated the story of Henry VIII’s fifth wife, Katherine Howard, racing up to him while he was in the chapel, breaking out of confinement in her quarters. Guards caught hold of her in the hallway where we, the tourists, were standing, and dragged her back into her chambers. She was executed in the Tower of London after that. They claim that her ghost still haunts the palace. And believe it or not as an adult I experienced the same thrills and chills that I did at thirteen.
