The EconoLodge is an older, cheaper property whose chief virtue is that it’s located right across the street from the most popular restaurant in the whole area — Kranberry’s which is an interstate stop in itself. By itself it’s not the most attractive place to spend the night, though it is pet-friendly and close to the highway for easy access. It’s also right next to a gas station. But it’s hard to find a trash bin. We got assigned to room 109 by the stairs and unloaded the car. They didn’t have the A/C going, and it took all afternoon to cool down the room to a decent temperature. It started at almost 80. The laundry machines are also now non-existent. Last year we had a nightmarish experience at this property on the Fourth of July with people setting off fireworks in the parking lot. They claimed that residents were stealing coins out of the machines to buy fireworks. I guess they haven’t had a guest laundry ever since.
