You say you would like to live in the US. Would you ever seriously consider moving to Virginia yourself? Even in the summer with the humidity, the mosquitoes, and the power outages? There are also a number of places in Virginia, including Charlottesville where I lived, that don’t have very good snow removal in the winter time. You have to hire people to plow the snow in front of your house — and I mean the street in front of your house. The city/county doesn’t have the budget for it. It’s a low tax area unlike anything you’ve ever seen in high-tax England. Also if there’s a weather report for even a slight sprinkling of snow everybody rushes to the grocery store and buys water, bread, firewood, and salt to put on your walkways. School it out for the duration. And you might just find yourself house bound. But maybe that’s not a bad thing for a writer. I should post some of my Charlottesville snow pictures on my blog. I’ll have to do it later today.
