Terrible news about the desert pigs! We called a garden center. They said it was useless to put up garden fences. Only brick walls and chain link work to keep javelinas out of the garden. We’ve got brick walls and chain link around the backyard. So apparently that’s the only place we can plant roses or almost anything else for that matter. When we asked what the pigs won’t eat the answer was sage and rosemary, two herbs. But they will still dig them up. Even small trees are vulnerable. I wish somehow the desert pigs were fenced inside the Saguaro National Park and couldn’t sneak out to plunder our front yard.
