Goodreads post: Was Hitler Gay?
Do you really believe that Hitler was gay? I’ve studied his life at the Berghof through the diaries and journals of his secretaries, his aides, and associates, even his chauffeur. I didn’t find any evidence of that. I’m talking about the Pen and Sword Series with introductions by Roger Moorhouse such as I Was Hitler’s Chauffeur: The Memoirs of Erich Kempka, He Was My Chief: The Memoirs of Adolf Hitler’s Secretary by Christa Schroeder, With Hitler To The End: The Memoirs of Adolf Hitler’s Valet by Heinz Linge, etc. Also I studied the book by his other secretary Traudl Junge. As a reference source for dates I refer all the time to Ian Kershaw’s biography. So far I haven’t seen anything about Hitler being gay. I have a quote from John Lukacs, the author of The Duel, The Last European War, and Five Days in London May, 1940 about just this subject. He says: “Much nonsense has been written and said about Hitler’s sexual abnormalities. Evidence about such matters if often rare, inauthentic, and difficult to judge. In my considered view a result less of speculation than of forty years of reading about Hitler, his relations with women were fairly normal.” He also says of both Churchill and Hitler “Both of them were undersexed”.

I personally think Hitler was downright prudish about such matters, especially after almost certainly fathering an illegitimate bastard son by a French peasant girl during the First World War. He liked to hold tea parties at midnight with his staff. He liked to socialize with ladies. But I don’t think he was either a womanizer or gay. He liked to be a father figure. He even used to engage in matchmaking.
