We stopped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in Benson, Arizona on July 2 on our way to Santa Fe to research World War 2 spies. It was a very hot, humid day, and we thought it would be great to have something cold to drink. A sign for the Bat Cave Cafe appeared above us. We stepped inside and felt as if we were going from the jungles of the Amazon to the North Pole! The A/C was the best I’ve felt all summer. We bought two bottles of water that was even colder and somehow miraculously was still in liquid form. My husband and I felt properly chilled to step back outside into the heat and make our way to the museum. It was a nice little chilly cave for both bats and people.
