Last To Have A Ground Floor Room: Red Roof Inn Harrisburg
We arrived in Harrisburg on Eisenhower Boulevard on August 5 last summer after disembarking on August 3 from the Queen Mary 2. For some reason the town was jammed and we couldn’t get a room on the first floor anywhere. Lots of the hotels were multi-storied and even high rise. The Red Roof Inn wasn’t among them, and it was literally the last place to have a ground floor room. Why was that so important? We had three people and lots of luggage. We were about to pick up our son’s car at the Harrisburg Airport to add a new dimension of complication. We were headed in two more days to Pittsburgh to pick up two pets, which would make our situation more complicated yet. There are only so many hours in a day. We drove to a new city each 24 hours. If assigned a second floor room we would waste at least another hour per day in loading and unloading time. Second floors in motels are to be avoided at all costs.
