Have You Ever Heard Of The Battle Of Trier?
During the early part of the summer of 79AD German warriors from the interior of Germany made their way down the Rhine and the Moselle Rivers to the Roman administrative capital of Trier where Pliny the Elder had his offices in the Palace. They attacked, trying to drive him away. They considered the Governor their enemy. He was writing a work called the Germania giving them a bad reputation. Pliny managed to sneak out orders for other Roman troops in the field to close in from behind and capture the whole lot of the rebels. They were taken to Rome and sold as slaves.
