On The Road Again: The Tower of Hercules
Will you find Cheops Books LLC at the base of the Tower of Hercules in La Coruña, Spain this summer staring up at this Worl Heritage UNESCO site? It is the oldest working lighthouse in the world built in Roman times in the first century AD at the town the Romans considered to be at the end of the world. This was La Coruna Harbor in northwest Spain, the Roman Hispania. Many legends from the Middle Ages to the nineteenth century attach to the tower that the Romans originally called the Farum Brigantium constructed on a 57 meter high rock.
The lighthouse would blend in perfectly with several novel series and plot ideas already being published by Cheops Books LLC. It could become part of the Edward Ware Thrillers YA novels series of young adult mysteries and thrillers. An eccentric but diabolical millionaire could move the lighthouse to the rugged coast of Maine and leave teenagers to wonder what is going on when they sight a skiff at sea that crashes against the lighthouse in the early dawn hours. They could try to figure out what curse is attached to the building for the past two thousand years.
The lighthouse would also be the perfect place for Pliny the Elder to visit. It was first built at about his time period. He could have something to do with its construction as he traveled about the Roman world studying birds, flora, and fauna for his encyclopedia series, The Natural History. Why would he make the trip by carriage and horseback far from Rome? Perhaps he wants to hide something there for future generations that he does not want to be found by the barbarians that are always trying to follow him about. Later in his own peregrinations Colonel Sir Edward Ware could find it.
And lastly Colonel Sir Edward Ware and Dora, Lady Ware, in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series, could visit the lighthouse. It would be an ideal place to hide the Lawrence maps, key to world domination. Hitler would never guess that they were in a Roman lighthouse. Perhaps even Hitler’s spies, Helga von Wessel and Herr von Wessel, would not guess.
The Tower of Hercules is full of mystery and pregnant with possibilities. That is the kind of place that Cheops Books LLC likes to discover.

Chasing around on the ground in Europe and America in the 30s and 40s Dora and Edward Ware, agents for Churchill, never got caught in a passport flap at the border that interrupted their travels, delayed them, etc the way many Muslims are getting caught today due to the new executive order by Donald Trump. The secret agents of yesteryear needed freedom of passage and quick access to escape hatches or they might be caught by Hitler’s agents such as Helga von Wessel who were out to rob them of the Lawrence maps, key to world domination.
Today even the average Joe from Kansas City won’t want to be at the airport being delayed in a long line. He might not be a Muslim but he will wish he had never taken the trip all the same. Even Cheops Books LLC got delayed in Boston by Homeland Security two years ago for no particular reason except bureaucratic delay. We wouldn’t want to repeat it again for anything. We have photos of long lines. No one could disembark from the Queen Mary 2 either even if you were a citizen of the USA.
Dora and Edward would always be turning around watching their backs. If they had to wait in a long line Helga and Herr von Wessel, Hitler’s best agents, might sneak up behind them and take a shot or two. Instead they might have decided that it was better not to travel at all under today’s odd circumstances. To avoid a passport flap they would think it was the better part of wisdom to act like Candide and stay at home instead cultivating their own garden.

You may or may not have visited Yellowstone National Park. You may not even know that it is located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. But that big, original western national park may be in your face one of these days soon. Talk about the Big One in California, the giant earthquake. That would be nothing compared to what Yellowstone may do one of these days.
The first national park is also a dormant, giant, super volcano. Nobody knows what the trigger is to get it to explode big time. We do know that it would not be one of those cone volcanoes so familiar from Hawaii where molten lava streaks down a mountain slope. This would be far uglier and would resemble Mount Vesuvius blowing its lid in 79AD in Roman times during the Emperorship of Titus. Ash would spew out in all directions and cover the landscape for hundreds of miles. Nothing would grow. Cities would get buried. Nobody could live there anymore.
In short, the Yellowstone volcano could bring an end to the civilization of the US just as it cut a swath through ancient Rome. Read more about it in the upcoming alternative history thriller, the Old Faithful Plot, coming soon from Cheops Books. LLC.

The Old Faithful Plot ends at the Old Faithful Geyser and Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park. The geyser and its regular eruptions are part of the climactic scene of the alternative history thriller novel. It’s enough to give you thrills and chills but wouldn’t that be even more true if the geyser could erupt in your face as it were or at least on your own desktop?
Thanks to the National Park website nps.gov such a thing is now possible. You can tune in each and every day no matter what the time of year to watch Old Faithful erupt in all its glory. The National Park Service operates a webcam. Here is the link. From now on Cheops Books LLC is going to display the link on the Old Faithful Plot page of the website: http://www.edwardwarethrillers.org. It will keep you in the right mood for reading the book. You know you can turn to it when you are in the mood. Our author Dora Benley tells us that she was constantly watching the geyser erupt as she was writing the novel. We can tell. You will be able to also.

Hitler Strikes At Iconic US Symbol Old Faithful:
Old Faithful Geyser, unlike any other on earth, erupts on a regular basis in Yellowstone National Park, perhaps every hour to ninety minutes. Ever since its discovery in the mid nineteenth century after which it almost immediately became a national park, it has become a symbol of America and the American West, the American wilderness. It is famous the world over. It is also well known that it sits on top of an enormous geyser basin as well as dormant volcanic cone so large that all of Yellowstone National Park is nothing more than a volcanic caldera waiting to happen someday all too soon.
Adolf Hitler heard about this geyser basin in isolationist America in the 1930’s when figures like Thomas Dewey of the America First Party wanted nothing to do with European politics. He wanted to encourage America to develop a Dewey-like attitude. He wanted Americans like Dora Benley, daughter of America First fund raiser, Winthrop Benley, to hand over whatever documents he wanted so he could force the British to come to terms with him. He demanded that she hand over the Lawrence maps, key to world domination, that she just happens to have in her back pocket. They were given to her by her lover, Colonel Sir Edward Ware, friend of Winston Churchill, his arch enemy, though he is still a backbencher.
Dora and Edward hide in Yellowstone near Old Faithful, but that only encourages Hitler to threaten them big time. That iconic American symbol would destroy America by blowing up if they don’t hand over the maps in Old Faithful Plot, an alternative history thriller coming soon from Cheops Books LLC.

Dora Encounters Bears, Not Buffalo: When Dora and Edward flee to Yellowstone, making a car journey across the United States via the Lincoln Highway in 1934, they encounter all sorts of obstacles both natural and man made. Not the least of these obstacles is not the buffalo but bears. Dora and Edward are fresh from New York City. That is where they usually tryst at the Waldorf Astoria. Edward is from London before that. Neither are accustomed to the wilds of North America. But no sooner do they arrive than they sit at a picnic table along the Madison River near the West Entrance looking for a spy sent by Winston Churchill, the backbencher Parliamentarian back in Britain who is also part of their map plot. While trying to avoid Hitler they run into a grizzly bear.
But little do they realize that the black bear or the grizzly bear is not the most dangerous creature in the park. It never has been. Decade after decade the biggest animal obstacle is the bison, or buffalo, which can suddenly appear as a herd blocking traffic for many minutes if not for half an hour or a whole hour. Because they don’t look dangerous tourists often tend to go after them and can get injured.
Perhaps Dora and Edward were lucky this time. Who knows what they will encounter on their second visit to the park in another upcoming novel in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War series.

Kindle Countdown Deal: Ancestress:

Ancestress seems like a weird title for a novel about Yellowstone, but as one reader says novels by Dora Benley and Linda Cargill often emphasize encounters between the old and new worlds. The teenage heroine of this YA thriller novel may be moving from Virginia to Montana because her parents are going to work in Yellowstone, but as soon as she arrives at the new house she finds disturbing portraits on the wall from the nineteenth century. One lady in particular will give her no peace. Her eyes follow Irene no matter where she goes. Worse she starts getting letters in the mail threatening her with death if she stays here in the wilds of Montana. Who is after her and why? Does the old portrait hold a clue? She had better figure out the mystery, or she might end up dead.
Ancestress was originally published in German by Cora Verlag, Harper Collins Germany. It is now brought to you by Edward Ware Thrillers YA, an imprint of Cheops Books, LLC. If you liked Ancestress, you will enjoy other young adult thrillers by Linda Cargill such as Pool, Cave, Shade, Moon, and Snow.
Starting on Wednesday, January 4 and continuing to Wednesday, January 11, Ancestress will be available for only $.99 on a Kindle Countdown Special Deal.
The young adult Yellowstone novels, including Ancestress, will be featured this year. Cheops Books LLC intends to publish Dora Benley’s new alternative history thriller novel Old Faithful Plot in the Edward Ware Thrillers at War Series. Hitler threatens to blow up Yellowstone if Colonel Sir Edward Ware and Dora, Lady Ware, don’t hand over those Lawrence maps, key to world domination. He claims that will finish America for good. Yellowstone conceals beneath its boiling surface the only super volcano in North America and one of the few in the world.

At 1PM Pacific tomorrow or 2PM Mountain time we will hold the final debate between the two candidates for President of the United States during the election of 1940, FDR and Wendell Willkie. The election of 1940 forms the backdrop of the alternative history thriller, Dark Horse, which is being published on Amazon Kindle on Election Day, November 8. Attend to the debate and vote for the winner yourself:

1)If Chancellor Adolf Hitler asked you as President of the United States would you send troops to help him invade Russia?
2)Would you give former British PM Winston Churchill asylum in the United States? How about the British Navy?
3)What would you do if Adolf Hitler offered you a trade deal with Nazi Germany that was too good to refuse?
4)What do you think of the popular 1940 election pin: No Third International Third Reich Third Term?
5)Mr. President, do you think that running for a third term might set a dangerous precedent for the future?
