Today Slovakia approved the expansion of the EU bailout fund. It was the last holdout among the 17 nations to agree to it. Yesterday it seemed to be stalling or even refusing to approve of it. And even one nation that doesn’t approve is enough to stop the measure from going through. Slovakia could have acted the part of an Eastern stumbling block that in the past one hundred years has caused so many problems for Europe.

Right now the bailout fund will be increased to 440 billion euros. Talks are underway to make it bigger yet.
