Bear update: The Bear says In The Year O General Bearus Blazed A Path Through America Pushing The Pirates Back Party. TR says, “Since then the Pirates have gotten out of hand.” Moose say, “You’ve gotten out of hand, Bear!” Lou says we will have a Beat Those Pirates Party. We will serve Bearus’s Favorite Foods.
We woke up to sun. Will it last? No! It got cloudy and rained a little before we got to Van Horn.

We woke up at 6:30AM. We got dressed and had breakfast CP at the La Quinta in Las Cruces. We left the motel at 9:52AM. We stopped at the Burger King at exit 0 just inside the Texas border, at exit 13 at the Sunland Park Mall to go to Office Depot and Petsmart, at exit 28b for lunch at Burger King after we drove through downtown El Paso, at exit 72 at the Fort Hancock Shell Station to get postcards, at exit 107 at Sierra Blanca at the Chevron to buy ice cream, and finally at the America’s Best Value Inn at Van Horn. Gary went in to get the keys while the raindrops came down. We turned off the car and opened the windows. I tried out my umbrella much sooner than expected! At least they took T-checks. We unloaded the car, including all the fans for once. There’s a big picture window for Putlitz. He also found a cat cave in the closet under my suitcase. We had to wait until 6:00PM to have our Father’s Day dinner because the Van Horn Cattle Co wasn’t open yet. After dinner we took Sabaka to get gas on the other side of the highway. Kenny took Putlitz for a walk in his stroller. The motel pool is closed. Gary did laundry.
Today we got stopped by the Border Guard just short of Sierra Blanca. They asked both Gary and me if we were citizens. They asked Kenny where he was going. They had a sniffing dog that Sabaka barked at. There were horses in the pickup truck in front of us.
Hopefully tomorrow we will find places to stop between Van Horn and Pecos. We don’t want a repeat of the Navajo Indian Reservation. Stay tuned.
Still no contract . . .
What next?
