Bear update: The Bear says I Chased A Group Of Piratesses Through The T-StTOAllegheny Tunnel Party. TR says, “They have split into three groups: Afton, Pittsburgh, and East.” Moose say, “Me hopes you turn into a yeast, Bear!” Lou says, “We will have a Yeasty Party. We will serve Foods That You Make With Yeast. The Amazon says, “The Yellow Eye Of the Piratesses Is Upon You.”‘
We woke up to sun. Will it last? It lasted, and the temperature in the carport climbed to 91.

We woke up at 7:30 AM. We got dressed and went to Sheetz for breakfast. We checked out of room 129 at 9:22M and got on the turnpike. Our first pit stop was at the Sideling Hill Service Plaza. I bought more postcards. They had a Burger King — always what you want where you don’t want it. Our second pit stop was at the Pizza den in Newburg at exit 201. Our third pit stop was at the Cumberland Valley Service Plaza. We ate lunch at Roy Rogers and took out Arizona Iced Tea from the mini mart. Then we got off the Pennsylvania Turnpike at exit 247 Harrisburg West. Then we got onto 283 and got off at exit 2. We’re on Eisenhower Blvd. We went to McDonalds for snacks and checked into La Quinta room 134. Gary and Kenny took the Juniormobile to the Harrisburg Airport.
Just when we were ready to go to dinner we discovered that we didn’t have the battery charger for the Leica D-Lux 20, the main camera I’ve been using on this trip. Gary called the Best Western in Breezewood. They found it in the wall where I plugged it in last night. Gary’s trying to get them to send it to NYC on Friday morning. In the meantime I’m left using a Lumix substitute camera. We went to Bob Evans for dinner. My parents called. So did Schwans! Now Gary has the idea of going to B& H in midtown Manhattan to pick up the battery charger. Now I’m sitting here charging all the camera equipment.
Our second pit stop today as we drove East on the Pennsylvania Turnpike from Breezewood to Harrisburg was the Pizza Den in Newburg at exit 201 Blue Mountain right after the Kittatiny and Blue Mountain Tunnels coming right after each other. That was bad enough having to drive through narrow tunnels on a modern interstate that brags it was the first one in the nation. Then we had to drive three miles off the road to find a place that might have a bathroom. This is worse than West Texas by far, and West Texas has far less population in that stretch from Van Horn to Midland and El Paso to Van Horn. If that wasn’t bad enough, they put a stop sign right at the end of the entrance ramp back onto the Pennsylvania Turnpike!
P.S. We ate lunch at the Roy Rogers at the Cumberland Valley Service Plaza. The service was unimaginably slow. They had one cook, a growing line, and one cashier/server to wait on everybody. They charged $33.93 for the privilege of waiting in line while my ice cream melted.
Gary called Met Life at lunch time. They finally received the papers. The mailbox should receive the checks by next week — one week late!
The QM2 is in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It’s got two more days in Boston — then New York.

Rick Steves London 2012: where to eat in Windsor: “The Crooked House is a touristy 17th-century timber-framed teahouse serving fresh, hearty 8 to 10 pound lunches and cream teas in a tipsy interior or outdoors on its cobbled lane (daily 10:30 to 18:00, 51 High Street)”
I just went through all the photos I’ve taken so far on the trip. Kenny downloaded them to my hard drive. There are too many dark ones, too many interior shots. I should take more outside.
Still no contract . . .
What next?
