Bear update: The Bear says The Piratesses Set Up A Fake River Bridge Party. TR says, “It was a way to divert me so they could escape.” Moose say, “Me wish they could get you, Bear!” Lou says we will have a Delaware Piratesses Party. We will serve Delaware Foods. The Amazon says, “You will never cross the Delaware again, Bear! I’ll make sure of it.”
We woke up to sun. Will it last? It lasted, and the temperature in Brooklyn climbed to 92.
Tucson 94/74 Brooklyn 92/77 tomorrow
We woke up at 7:30 AM. We got dressed and went to breakfast at the Bistro in the lobby. We checked out of room 121 at 10:32AM. We went on 287 S to the New Jersey Turnpike. We saw the South Plainfield exits. The New Jersey Turnpike is I-95. The last time we were on I-95 was in 1995 when we went to Ponte Vedra/Jacksonville and Hilton Head. We ate lunch at the Grover Cleveland Service Plaza at Nathan’s Hot Dogs. We also got gas. It was full service here just like in Oregon. We paid $34.00 to fill up. We got off the New Jersey Turnpike and paid a toll of $2.45. We paid a toll of $12.00 and crossed the Goethals Bridge onto Staton Island. Then we thought there was going to be a back up and there wasn’t on 278, the Staten Island Expressway. The back up won’t come until 7/9/12 on Monday due to construction. Then we crossed the Verrazano Bridge into Brooklyn. We caught a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty. We got off at exit 26 right before the Battery Tunnel into Manhattan and arrived at the Comfort Inn Brooklyn Cruise Terminal right as Christine called and I was talking to Sabaka. We got there at 12:33PM at odo 21,448. The total mileage from Tucson to Brooklyn is 2955 miles. Now there remains only the .4 miles to the Cruise Terminal itself tomorrow. We ordered dinner from Mark’s Pizzeria and had it delivered to our room. It arrived at the exact same moment as the charger for my Leica camera, which was delivered by a courier. FEDEX picked up my other charger, but now it doesn’t matter if it gets delivered by First Overnight.
We gave the Mailboxes the Fidelity Savings card to forward the Met Life stuff to my parents.
The Bistro at the Courtyard by Marriott in Somerset New Jersey was way overpriced. I paid $40.00 for three scrambled eggs with sausage and toast. It wasn’t as tasty as McDonalds and it cost twice as much. Why did we go to the Bistro? We couldn’t find the golden arches. Nor was the Bistro internet friendly. And they didn’t even taken T-checks.
Dog/Cat Report:
I ordered Sabaka another toy from Amazon.com last night. It will be delivered on Monday. This time I talked to Sabaka. Kenny did, too. I told him “go beach” later in August and “get toy” on Monday. I told him to “take walk” with Christine.
Apparently Putlitz has walked with Sabaka. Sabaka knows the cat is there. He’s been out in his stroller. Really I should send him a new stroller.
My parents visited Sabaka and Putlitz today. It took one and a half hours for them to find the kennel.
The Cunard website says QM2 is in NYC, though she still seems to be out at sea. She must be close.
Mark’s Pizzeria in Brooklyn — What a Deal! After three weeks of being overcharged for meals, we ran into a real deal in the most unlikely of places — New York City. We ordered delivery for three adults. They brought us enough spaghetti, meat sauce that tasted homemade, freshly baked bread, and salads that tasted fresh and succulent with plenty of dressing all for just $47.55 including the delivery charge, the tip, and all the silverware and accompaniments. They did it within thirty-five minutes, too. We could have gotten by on just one spaghetti for three of us. That’s how big the meals were.
Still no contract . . .
What next?
