Bear update: The Bear says I Still Need To Find That Very Sharp Sword Party. TR says, “It might be in the middle of the lake at Heremchimsee.” Moose say, “You’re in my hair, too, Bear!” Lou says we will have a Sword In The Lake Party. We will serve Lakeside Foods.
We woke up to clouds. Will they last? No! It got sunny during the afternoon. The temperature in Salzburg climbed to 21.

We woke up at 7:30AM. We got dressed and went to breakfast in the breakfast room. Then we went back to the room. We headed over to the Old Town to find the restaurant Gertrude told us to go to, Alt Salzburg. First of all we couldn’t find parking. We looped up the road and found the restaurant. We didn’t know how to reach it. We went back to the hotel. Gary called the restaurant and asked to talk to Gertrude. She and Helmut showed up at our hotel. Gertrude called Kenny in his room and got him out in the hallway. We ate lunch for 2 and 1/2 hours until 2:30PM sitting in the Stieglbrau Restaurant. I gave her the Goethe calendar and showed her the Goethe puppet. She gave us music, candy, and a card. She also paid for the lunch. We took photos. Then we walked over to the Mirabelle Gardens for photos. Kenny wanted to stay in the gardens. We went into the Baroque Museum giftshop and bought postcards and guide books. We also stopped at the shop with the magnets. It was closed. We took photos of a sidewalk cafe and returned to the room to find out how to get to Berchtesgaden. We used our voucher for the dinner at the Stiegl Brau but we didn’t go to the Schloss Concerte. Instead we strolled down to the Salsac River.
2.4 kilometers distance by road
30 km to Berchtesgaden from Salzburg
We had lunch at the Stiegelbrau Restaurant in Salzburg with an old college chum from Duke. It was 60 some degrees out and humid. The restaurant was stuffy. We Americans sat there in short sleeves. My Austrian lady friend wore a sweater. Her husband wore a jacket. It’s more evidence for my theory that people respond more to the inside climate than the outside one. Residents of cold countries like Austria and Germany are used to artificial heat and warm rooms most of the year. Residents of hot places like Arizona are accustomed to cold, air-conditioned interiors. So they feel chilly in the same room where we feel warm. Bizarre!
Still no contract . . .
