Hertz In Hamburg Took Nine Days To Pick Up Our Car 10/1/12
We rented our Ford Mondeo on July 15 at the Hamburg Airport and we meant to return it 10 days later on July 25, but it wouldn’t start and we couldn’t meet the deadline. Of all the assinine things! We pulled up in front of the Best Western St. Raphael in downtown Hamburg, but the parking lot was full. There was nowhere to park our car except across the street. But the spaces were so narrow that the car refused to start, apparently thinking it was too close to other vehicles.
We called Hertz and told them that we didn’t have time to wait for a maintenance truck to arrive. We had to get to the Hafen City Cruise Terminal to board the QM2. They agreed to pick it up themselves. We left the keys at the front desk at the hotel. We called them on our European cell phone from Southampton two days later. They still hadn’t picked it up. We called from Brooklyn when we arrived back in the USA seven days later. They were finally getting around to it then. They put an extra charge on our card. We assume it got picked up. That’s the last we ever heard of it.
What a weird, inefficient system!
