The Unsung Hero Of Our Trip to Europe Was McDonalds 10/26/12
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. It would be hard to imagine slogging across the continent this summer from Tucson to New York City without strawberry lemonade. It was hot every day of the way from June 15 when we left Tucson all the way through July 6 when we boarded the Queen Mary 2 in Brooklyn Harbor and started across the Atlantic towards England. The crushed ice in the drink was the perfect elixir to cool us off.
Likewise on the way back across the country from August 3 until August 29 we discovered dipped cones. They cheered us up on the long drive and gave us something to look forward to every afternoon as we headed west.
Too bad that both strawberry lemonade and dipped cones are not permanent fixtures at McDonalds. They were for the summer only. Already I can’t find strawberry lemonade in Tucson. And soon dipped cones will be a thing of the past, too. But then fall is beginning even in the Southwest.
