Two years ago we drove through what used to be East Germany. The first day ashore we drove from Hamburg to Potsdam. The next day we drove to Weimar, Goethe’s home. The roads seemed to be of the same quality as in the west. But if you paid attention you noticed details that indicated the Communists had been here. I took a photo of graffiti on the wall in Weimar. It said “Profit is Mord” or “Profit is Death”.
