What I was saying about Pickett’s Charge was that it didn’t change how people thought at the time. It was still the Victorian Era, the era of progress and romanticism. The Civil War couldn’t change how people thought. Interestingly enough, Margaret Mitchell was really thinking about WW1 instead of the Civil War when she wrote Gone With The Wind. That’s why it was such a big bestseller and appealed to an international audience.
