I’ve got lots of photos of the Jornada del Muerto. I’ll post some more today. This is basically the modern I-25, or interstate 25. The towns along it are Truth or Consequences and Socorro. Truth or Consequences used to be called Hot Springs, New Mexico when Dora and Edward stopped there. Only after the war did they change their name on a dare from the popular TV show. They were supposed to get some sort of advertising benefit from it for their tourism.
There’s traffic on I-25 but not that much. And the area is rather deserted even now. It is somewhat scenic if you like tortured landscapes. I’ll see if I can find a photo of the volcanic cinder cones. Socorro is 25 miles from where the first atomic bomb went off on July 16, 1945.
