Texas: Land of Flags, McDonalds, George Bush, and Fate

The wild weather continued for the second day in a row as we checked out of the La Quinta in Weatherford, Texas. Heck, tornadoes had made the news only yesterday. Instead of yesterday’s rain, we confronted today’s fog. It ended up as mere gray skies as we started to cross around Fort Worth and Dallas. Edward encountered difficult weather of a different kind when he and Lawrence of Arabia were fighting in the Syrian Desert during the Great War. He encountered Texas only once on a long train passage across the country to fight Helga in Santa Fe. He never saw Texas the way it is now — land of flags, McDonalds, George Bush, and yes, Fate, Texas. I snapped a photo of a Texas flag rendered in flowers on a lawn to the side of the highway. McDonalds advertised burgers as big as Texas. The George Bush highway had signs everywhere. And at the end of going around Dallas/Fort Worth we encountered our fate. Yes, Fate, Texas.
