We got about as close as you can to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge without traveling on the upper or lower decks. Where were we? On deck 3 of the Queen Mary 2 on the upper level of the Britannia Dining Room. It was like dinner theater as we sailed closer and closer to the bridge. We could make out the cars driving across it. Then we slipped underneath it for the most dramatic view of all looking straight up.
Sailing under the bridge certainly beats driving over it on the upper or lower levels and paying a toll of $16.00. Surprisingly you don’t get much of a view from the bridge itself. You can hardly see the river. It’s much better on the ship. And you can take better photos, too.
