1000 Year Olds Inspire You

St. Michael’s Church is built of the same old gray bricks and stones as the medieval walls of Southampton. it looks grave and serious standing there just in front of the Tudor House and Garden. The steeple points sharply toward the sky. Founded in 1070 just after the Norman invasion, it endured raids of French pirates. Townsfolk came rushing into it for protection. Even now the shade it casts on the stone pavements brings relief to the traveler on foot who pauses a moment to gave up at it and be inspired by everything it has seen and done during the past thousand years.
