I tell my friend in Austria, “There’s no history here in Arizona, just rocks.” Texas Canyon, just east of Tucson on I-10, right after the Thing and before you get to Wilcox, may not be the Grand Canyon but it does present quite a display of huge, well-shaped boulders that tempt you to stop at the rest area and take numerous photos. You even ignore the sign that warns you about poisonous snakes and other assorted nasties as you trip along with your camera snapping shots of the biggest rock display on I-10 until it ends just past Van Horn, Texas. It’s even a good place to walk your dog. But I’ve often wondered what if one of those boulders high up on the hill comes crashing down on you? Oops! I suppose that’s more the material for a murder mystery than a review of Texas Canyon.
