It Takes A Cat:

Cheryl must spend the summer cleaning the beach house and collecting mail for the new tenant. The only problem, he doesn’t seem to be anywhere. There is no food in his refrigerator. He has no mail to bring in. The only sign he is there at all — tons of bird cages are set up on both floors, that and a box of masks under his bed. When she tries to clean the basement, the door is padlocked and bolted.

What kind of weirdo is this? He paid for his whole year lease upfront with cash sent from a rental agency that doesn’t even exist. Is he a criminal of some kind? Certainly the customers at her parents’ bed and breakfast in Delmar don’t want to use the beach anymore They want to stay away.

She is sitting on the beach wondering when a parasailer high up in the sky who is the only other person on the beach plummets into the waves. Is this the tenant or one of his victims? Cheryl had better find out soon or she could be next. She has only her Abyssinian cat to help her find out. He can fit his way into the basement windows at night and see what’s really going on.
