We stopped in Boston Harbor on July 12 for Cunard’s 175th anniversary celebration. It was the end of Samuel Cunard’s first transatlantic voyage back in 1840. Boston awarded him a special cup displayed to this day aboard the Queen Mary 2. The culmination of this ceremony was fireworks at night time. In the distance as we sailed into the harbor we could glimpse the Bunker Hill Monument from a distance. It gave you the sense of looking back into history from the vantage point of the present day. Many of the other reviewers talk about climbing to the top. From our vantage point on deck 5 we were already high enough up that we were on the same level. It was certainly a unique, unforgettable experience.
