We ordered roast beef and meatloaf platters with plenty of corn bread. I thought there would be plenty of time to slip into the shop to buy a gift. There was only one lady in front of me. But she was buying I don’t know how many items and each was being individually wrapped. The line grew longer and longer. The store didn’t call in another clerk. By the time I got back to the table my dinner was already served and everybody else was wondering where I’d been. Those delightful cornbread muffins weren’t even steaming anymore. Service is lightning fast in the restaurant. Whatever happened to the country store?
