The Mandarin Oriental: A Maid Broke Into Our Room For $900.00/Night 8/31/12
We checked into the Mandarin Oriental in Munich because it was the closest hotel to the Hofbrauhaus. We had only a few hours in town, and that’s what we wanted to see. That’s where Hitler started the National Socialist Party on the 3rd floor. For that privilege we had to pay $900.00 for the night even though we had the least expensive triple available on the second floor. We had to walk up all sorts of flights of stairs to reach it. It even had a lighted DO NOT DISTURB sign right beside the door, something I’ve never seen before. But sure enough the next morning before we could check out of the big, old renovated room a maid who didn’t speak English (and couldn’t read German either) broke into our room. I had to chase her away. We had to pay for the privilege.
