Cunard Ought To Figure Out How To Disembark Its Passengers 9/5/12
After doing two disembarkations from the QM2 within one month — once in Hamburg on July 15 and once in Brooklyn on August 3, I wish there was a way to get help with our luggage. We had to limit what we bought, we had to take apart our toiletry bag, we had to empty our cooler, and throw away lots of paper products, just to be able to carry everything off the ship.
Both times we took advantage of the early self-disembarkation procedure to avoid delays waiting until later when our deck was supposed to disembark. On the way to Hamburg we were on deck 4. Deck 4 was supposed to be the last to disembark at 10:00AM. We would miss our car rental at the Hamburg Airport. In Brooklyn we had to get to Haddonfield, New Jersey in a hurry that day.
But just because we had to leave the ship early doesn’t mean we didn’t need help with our luggage. Why Cunard denies help to those who have to leave the ship early and provides it only for those who disembark by deck escapes me. It hardly reminds me of a “luxury” cruise.
