It Must Take Nerve To Climb To The Top Of Salisbury Cathedral 9/9/12
We visited Salisbury Cathedral on July 13, and visited the Sanctuary and the Cloister. My son saw a sign about tower tours. We didn’t have time for that on the shore excursion. But it’s hard to imagine anyone climbing the tallest cathedral in England at 400 feet when the foundations are supposed to be so shallow. Other cathedrals have fallen down. What about this one? Of course for the non-paranoid the view of the red roofs of Salibury below and the surrounding countryside, too, might make it worth the risk. But I’d prefer to keep my feet on the ground and my eyes on the many Gothic arches that look like hands raised in prayer.
