I Couldn’t Believe All The Bathroom Attendants I Saw In Germany 9/11/12
This summer we drove about 1200 miles on German autobahns from Hamburg to Potsdam, Potsdam to Weimar, Weimar to Nuremberg, Nuremberg to Salzburg, Austria, Salzburg to Berchtesgaden, Berchtesgaden to Munich, Munich to Fulda, and Fulda back to Hamburg — and everywhere we saw men or women collecting money for keeping up bathrooms. Where it was really astonishing was at the autobahn stops run by Serways. Not only did they have machines that took coins (70 cents) so you could enter the W/C, but at some McDonalds and Burger King restaurants they had dishes set up in the hallways where you were supposed to put 20 cents to use the facilities. Is this old-fashioned or what? In the USA I’ve never seen anything like it.
