The National Socialist Section of Nuremberg 10/3/12
We stopped in Nuremberg primarily to see the Zeppelin Field Tribunal. We had no idea how big it was or how extensive the stands. We didn’t anticipate walking around a lake to see everything from the Dokumentation Center to the Congress Hall to the stands where people sat listening to Hitler at the annual party rallies in September. What was really unique was how we discovered unlabeled nearby buildings that belonged to the party rally grounds. For instance we ate lunch at a nearby Burger King that looked like a rather monumental building with a step up into it. We were wondering what it had once been when we discovered a faded but still recognizable National Socialist eagle on the outside. Not wanting to leave the area for dinner I eyeballed a restaurant in the train station across the street. It had a view of the Zeppelin complex. No one else there was a tourist. One blonde lady kept on giving me the eye about taking photos. It was obviously for locals.
There seems to be a little National Socialist village on the outskirts of modern-day Nuremberg.
