Part 5: My Postcard Mailed On The QM2 Got Lost. This Is Like A Small Southern Or Western Town, And Someone Objects:
I once mailed a mortgage payment from an out of the way post office in the rural west by priority mail. It took 3 weeks to arrive. There were supposed to be late fees. But I showed them my proof of mailing. They said, “Oh, of course that’s what you could expect of a place like that.” They waived the late fees. It’s not a matter of prejudice. It’s a statement of fact. Places like that don’t have enough employees. They probably don’t even get mail picked up and delivered every day. National parks operate like this, too. In fact, the location I was talking about in the above example was Wawona, California. You know where that’s located? Yes, Yosemite National Park.
