Death is in the Air: A Manor House Mystery by Kate Kingsbury is Miss Marple meets the Germans during World War 2 in Britain. Instead of talking about battles, troops movements, or matters of state, the author focuses on village gossip, relations between the servants and their employers, the local take on “Yanks” from America invading England, and how the war affects how the sleuth does her hair. Very quaint, very English.

Such a clever novel deserves a cover designed just for Kindle. The reader can’t make out the details of this cover in a thumbnail print. It’s much too dark.
