There’s A Disconnect Between The Prologue And Chapter 1: Princess Elizabeth’s Spy by MacNeal
The Prologue concerns itself with getting the former King Edward VIII’s and Wallis Simpson’s consent to take the throne when Germany invades England and the current king, his younger brother, is deposed along with his heir, Princess Elizabeth. Suddenly the reader feels as if he’s been thrown into twelve feet of water and can’t swim. Chapter 1 switches subjects entirely. It immediately starts talking about Bletchley Park and the Enigma Machine. That’s enough to make you want to stop reading then and there. The beginning of Mr. Churchill’s Secretary, though gross and violent, grabs the reader’s interest better.[[ASIN:0553593617 Mr. Churchill’s Secretary: A Novel]] That novel, of course, is by the same author.
